I'm tinkering on the cockpit of Eduard's Hellcat at the moment and the green is actually a good match with the interior color and the difference is small enough to not be noticeable at all once the fuselage is glued together. It really seems to be just the grays...

Bish, that clears some things up for me, thanks. And you answered the main part of my question by confirming you have had Eduard PE panels that weren't blue.

Clemens, that is a novel approach. Will keep it in mind. What you say about Eduard having trouble getting grays right makes sense.

Nathan, I hear ya. However, I've yet to have any luck painting a stock panel and have yet to try a resin one.

I hear ya Joe, and I'm kinda in the same boat as you. PE is the best choice for me at the moment, regardless of the inaccuracies Nathan mentioned. You probably have the skills to paint a panel and just don't like doing it. I don't.

Thanks again for your input, gents. All my questions are now answered.

Yeah.........but they look waaaaaay better than I can paint so I can usually live with the inaccuracies.  I hate painting IPs..

I'm finding it harder and harder to like Eduard's color pe panels because of what you mentioned Greg. The color is usually horribly inaccurate, or if it does happen to be close, there is a fine pix elated look to them that doesn't match a nice airbrushed cockpit. And it does seem some sets are worse than others. I like the look of a nicely hand painted pe or resin panel better.

Eduard seems to have a pretty hard time getting their grays to look right. I ended up mixing a shade of RLM66 (slightly more blueish and a bit darker) to match the color PE on all my Eduard Luftwaffe cockpits so far...

I have used a few WW2 Eduard pre painted cockpit PE sets for WW2 USAAF aircraft and they were green. German IPs were never RLM 02 even when the rest of the cockpit was, but there is some question as to the colour of Eduard's German sets.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

General question about Eduard PE instrument panels
Posted by Greg on Friday, September 26, 2014 1:18 PM

I know not everybody is a fan of PE panels, but at this stage of my skill level, I like them.

I'm on my 3rd or 4th Eduard cockpit set, and it seems all of them so far are a dark blue in color. This wasn't too bad on my first one (TBM Avenger), but I've not been crazy about it on the Luftwaffe aircraft. I would think they should either be RLM 02 or maybe just gray and black??

So my question, finally, is are all Eduard IP's (and associate button and switch panels) printed in that same blue?
