F-106?

I just ordered the new Trumpeter F-106A, does anyone know if they are still planning on releasing the two seater?

I can't imagine why they wouldn't as they showed photos of test shots already.

Just remember Chas, we will want a full review! I've been waiting for a new release of a Six with engraved lines for 20 years. Hopefully the 1/72 version is not far behind. I've got about a dozen decal sets waiting for that.

Just received my kit today. Tried ordering it from Hobby Linc but it went OOS about two seconds after I ordered. Then was strolling through Squadron and they had one; ordered and delivered in two days. Wow!

At first glance, it looks as nicely detailed as the Monogram kit. Differences(again at first glance)include engraved panel lines, PE for the seat, extended rails for the missiles, no gun option, no early canopy(I'm going to pull out one of my Monogram kits and see if their early canopy will fit because Trumpeter molded their canopy the same way with the glass separate) two Genie's(the Six only carried one)and I also noticed on the Falcon missiles two of them have the clear nose for an IR version and the other two have solid (radar guided?) noses. Oh, and the cockpit instrumentation is the later "tape" version, so this would be gun compatible if you could build the gun part.

Looks like a winner and since the kit doesn't come with a pre-refueling capability spine, I'm thinking the lack of the early canopy may not be that big a deal if you're into the later versions. I am in that category BUT I'd love to build the "Cornfield Bomber" from the 71st FIS.

Haha! The Cornfield Bomber! Can you imagine watching that bird land itself! AND having a wingman tell you to get back in! Is there a decal set for it?

Good question, sir. It was from the 71st FIS out of Malstrom AFB in Montana and Wikipedia has good shots of the markings. I "think" there's a set in my stash somewhere; have to get out the shovel. Even if not, it was a simple arrowhead design. Shouldn't be too difficult to mask/paint on. Oh, crap, did I really say that? I'm doomed.

Update: the non blown canopy glass does fit the Monogram frame(somewhat) and the frame fits the Trumpeter with a little tweaking. I also recommend using the wheels from Monogram. Trumpy's are rather plain. Enjoying my build so far despite the warping of the fuselage halves.
