Here's a Revell P-47D I'm working on.
Cockpit was built OOB. Cockpit photo:

Hollowed out behind the oil radiator flap and fix deflector. Also inserted a styrene tube for the exhaust exit.
Hollowed out the intercooler outlets on the rear fuselage.
Fuselage/wings/tail assembly complete. Shot a coat of light grey to check the seams.
108 gallon cardboard/paper drop tank and bombs assembled and painted for seam check. Landing gear doors and oil radiator ducts under engine hand painted with yellow zinc chromate.
On the bench

Looks great! I've always liked the look of the p-47d.
Very well done! Before you close up the cowling, I think that the interior of the air intake (below the engine) was anodized aluminum, not zinc chromate. Not the cowl itself, just the plates inside.
I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.
Have fun.
Thanks for the tip. It's difficult to find good color photos in areas in constant shade.
I think I used aluminum with a bit of white mixed in.
I did the Revell brand P-47D myself. A fun build indeed. Gave it to my bro-in-law as a b-day gift.
Looking good. How did you deal with the seam in the gear bays?
