B-17 after market suggestions
Posted by Squatch88 on Sunday, October 26, 2014 10:29 PM

Building a 1/48 B-17. Going to make it after Nine-O-Nine because I've flown on that one! Going to open up the plane with some cut away panels, looking for any aftermarket kits that anyone has used and has good things to say about. My skills with PE parts is limited and not that great for the tiny pieces. PE doors and pieces that don't require a ton of folding are okay, resin is always welcome.

This is the kit that I keep seeing that looks like it is the best bang for the buck, but I can't really tell whats in it other that the superchargers ...any help is appreciated guys..as always!

Jo there are quite a few on the market, but scratch building can also give you the desired effect. I am in the process of doing a B17 mysdelf, have a look at my thread, it is on this forum as 1:48 B17 Sally B:-

I do recommend the Eduard Big Ed set, but you will need a PE folding tool for some of the parts, but well worth it if you are opening her up.. Good luck and I am looking forward to seeing the results!

I see that you used some of the True Details. Did you just use them for the bomb section? I ordered the Bombardier section, waist gunner section, and the cockpit details. There wasn't a ton of detail as to whats in each kit, so I will have to wait and see, I hope there is a decent radio room section as that will be most visible. Your build is looking amazing!
