Posted by hannibalsmith on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 7:00 AM

hi all,

does anyone know if you can get rocket assistance pods as seen on ac119 gunships,c-123 providers as i need to put a pair on a c-123 for a friend of mine,i could buy another ac-119 but i already have one and i would be an expensive way to get them.they need to be in 1/72nd scale by the way.

thanks

How about making an RTV mold of the pod and then make ones in resin from the mold?

Ah, JATO rockets. Cool stuff. I have not seen any kits with them included. Don may be correct in the "fab some up" department.

I am making some for 1/72 Skyhawks, but, those are going to be scratchbuilt and aren't near finished yet.

You need to look out for what time period you are doing them, there is an early stubby version used on T-33s, and into Korea and the sixties,,,,,,,,,and then there is the later, longer and more slender version as used on Skyhawks, Skywarriors. For example, photos of P-2 Neptunes might have either version in them, as that aircraft served while both types were in use.
