SB2C Helldiver kits
Posted by BlackSheepTwoOneFour on Monday, November 17, 2014 8:35 AM
Why aren't there any new 1/48 scale kits out for this aircraft? Seems like there's a lot of them in 1/72 scale. Are there any plans for model kit companies coming out with 1/48 scale? I'm aware you can find older 1/48 scale Helldivers kits on ebay.

The current offerings in 1/48, ProModeler/Revell/Accurate Miniatures are great kits, with recessed panel lines. Lots of AM out there for them. I have no news of any new Helldiver releases.

I've got the PM kit in my stash and an ultracast engine. It is a really nice kit in 1/48 with very nice detail. I haven't built it yet but it looks as good as any of my other high end kits.

Looks like I'm gonna have to pay a little visit to a LHS Tuesday afternoon. If I do find a ProModeler SB2C Helldiver, I'm grabbing it. LOL!

I don't think its still in production.  You'd have better luck with E-bay.

Ebay is your best bet, but keep in mind, these kits can be pricey.

Good luck!

I have the Accurate Miniatures one in my stash and must say I'd put it up against most other manufacturers modern kits with no problem. Only cost me £27 ($35) too

I realize they're no longer in production and e-bay is my best bet. I hate having to deal with the bidding wars on a kit.

P mitch - $35 isn't a bad price for that kit. Nice!

It would be very hard to top the Monogram/Promodeler kit in 1:48.

But one of my all-time favorite kits is still the original Monogram kit from the early 60's.  Not only did it have all the neat working parts (retracting landing gear, folding wings, dropping bomb, sliding canopies,  etc.) but it was also one of the first models I remember being really proud of when I finished it.  I've still got several of them in my stash.

Bow Down That is a great deal, most I've seen on eBay are $50+ with shipping! Great find!

Now I want the Accurate Miniature brand as well. hehehehe...  I looked for that there but no dice. I'm surprised he didn't have any in 1/72 scale though. I'm happy with what I got anyways.

I do believe the Accurate Miniatures boxing is the exact same kit as the ProMod with other marking options.

EXCELLENT kit!!! I've done two, both were my favorites(at the time), and both somehow managed to get themselves destroyed. Have another in the stash...what a steal for $3!!!.....yup, three dollars!

Cyber-Hobby makes a great one in 72nd...and has wing-fold option! A bit pricey, but a great kit as well.

CyberHobby kit....

Outstanding score! You are definitely going to love that kit. Got my Revell PM for a Xmas present and have yet to build it but, I've seen others builds and it is impressive. And, yes, I do believe it is a rebox of the AM kit. Gawd, I miss Accurate Miniatures. They turned out some really outstanding kits.

Look on eBay; as the others have said, watch the opening bids, many start relatively expensively, but others are put up for a reasonable amount, like ten to twenty bucks.

If you go to shows, too, look in the vendor area, and you might find one and be able to haggle as necessary.  I got one for $15 a couple of years ago, at a toy soldier show.

The ProModeler kit still holds up very well.

I don't pooh-pooh the old original Monogram kit, either.  Sure, it's simple and has the working features that were popular with the young boys who built it, back in the day (including your humble narrator), but you can have fun building it.  I'm building one now for the latest Monogram Mafia group build, and I'll finish it as an SB2C stationed on the East Coast, in Atlantic gull grey over white.

Today I finally got the chance to open the kit and fondle the sprues. LOL! I am impressed with the size this SumBitch 2nd Class is gonna be. Can't wait to dive in and build it. Photo-Etched parts oh my!

Baron - I used to have the old Monogram kit and thought I saw one at either Hobby Lobby or Micheal's Then again I may be wrong. Gonna take a trip to Ollie's and Tuesday morning as well. I knew they get model kits as well. Wonder what they'll offer this year?

You know BlackSheep, Clemens mentioned to me that he will likely be hosting another Carrier GB and Bish alluded to doing the 1945 GB. Both good platforms for your new Helldiver.

Hmmm...let's see. I have the same kit. I might just....huh?
