Greetings Aircraft Forum Members!  Anyone who has spent time in the Armor or Group Build Forums knows that I've been a diehard treadhead ever since I returned to the hobby eight years ago.  Yet somehow I ended up with a Hobby Boss 1/72 Easy Assembly P-47D Razorback in the stash, so I decided to step outside my comfort zone and build it for lewbud's Weekend Madness 2014 group build.  It's a very simplistic kit and I figured it would be not only a perfect 48 hr build, but a good intro into the world of AC kits.

I'm sure all of you are familiar with the basics of AC modelling so I won't bore you with the build specifics.  Suffice it to say I didn't do anything that I haven't read or seen in these or other online forums.  I'll just post a few pics and words for your perusal.

First the kit:

There were no problems with the build except for some sizable gaps.  Standard filling and sanding worked fine, although it took more time and care than I would use for an armor build!  Details were very basic....cockpit molded into the one piece fuselage.  Just install seat and instrument decal and the office is complete.  I did add a headrest and harness straps to spruce it up a bit, but that's it.  Everything else is OOB.

The painting process:

Don't know how accurate everything is.  I have absolutely no references for P-47s and with the 48 hour deadline, didn't have much time to do any online research.  I just followed the build instructions and eyeballed the colors. 

Anyway, here she is....my first foray into aircraft modelling since I built a 1/48 Japanese Zero (can't remember which kit) back when I was a teenager!  I hope it didn't turn out too bad....you wingie experts can be the judge!
