Absolutely marvelous Tomcat build. Excellently done.

It's fun to build something you saw in a movie. Just an FYI. That's actually the Fujimi/Testor's kit, not the Academy.

Great Cat build. I also feel in love with the Tomcat based on the final countdown, not "the other movie" people try to attribute to making the Tomcat famous. Sorry Tom Cruise, Final countdown has you beat by a few years.

Kick the tires and light the fires!

Missing the IR seeker under nose, other than that an excellent job.

This is an awesome looking F14! I especially like the distinct panel lines and the decals and paint look crisp up close.

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Steve, I'd say your skills are pretty unlimited, as that is an awesome Tomcat.  I loved that movie also, its been years since I've seen it.

Excellent work.

I've just got the Academy 1/48 F14A BombCat and going to build it very soon. Did you encounter any issue when working on yours ? Any thing I should watch out for. Thanks.

When my Dad took me to see a little-known movie called the Final Countdown back in 1980, I was totally engaged in particular the chase scene involving 2 Zeros and 2 Tomcats. To this day I can't get that scene out of my head as it has made a lasting vivid impression on me. To help satiate this little obsession, I found it therapeutic to try and replicate one of those famous Tomcats from the old VF-84 squadron attached to the USS Nimitz. I chose the Academy for it's clean sharp lines and overall appearance. I did the best I could with my limited skills; however, I'm pleased with the results and will be giving this to my Dad in appreciation of taking me to watch that terrific movie. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I had building her. Steve
