The weapons are interchangeable when its finished, I think there's four amraams you can use so whatever takes your fancy, I made this kit years ago, when it was considerably cheaper lol. Best kit I have ever made though.

Thanks for the help guys. Based on all the pics posted above, looks like the 120's are going on the tips. It just looks weird though.

I rounded up pictures of the F-16CJ from various squadrons.

Just to add to the mix, Martin Dougherty's "Modern Air Launched Weapons" shows the AIM-9's consistently loaded on the wingtip rails, and the AIM-120's on the outboard pylons. He indicates the remaining pylons loaded with heavier weapons closer to the fuselage, type depending on mission requirements.

Happy Modeling!

The procedure is to put the AIM-120 on the wing tips and the AIM-9 below the wing.  It does look a bit odd though.

I decided to build mine like the picture on the box but you can mount them either way. There's a page in the instructions that shows all the different possibilities.  It's a fun build, you're gonna love it.

1/32 Tamiya F16CJ Question........
Posted by Reaper420 on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 1:19 AM
So I have a 1/32 Tamiya F16CJ on the bench, haven't even opened it yet. What I was wondering is if I HAVE to put the AIM 120's on the wing tips and the AIM 9's on the 1st pylon in from the wing tip like the box and instructions show or if I could reverse them with the 9's on the tips and the 120's on the pylons? Would that be incorrect or are they mounted either way in real life? Haven't been able to find any definitive pics on them there inter-webs. Thanks guys!
