In addition when I was an exchange student in Europe I sought out "Gray Eagle " meetings and would get acquainted with former WW2 pilots from WW2 . Turns out colours were not adhered to religiously.

I heard all kinds of stories about mixing all sort of paints to get "close" to what they wanted. Germans "borrowed" paint from Italian and British stocks they captured.

The "white Washes" used in Winter were just that diluted oil paints to just give a temporary coating.

I love hearing this that's why you see so many diverse looking Desert and winter camoflages. Even the British used captured stocks of German and Italian paints for their aircraft.!!!!!!

When I compare the Testors 70 & 71 colors I am using they compare well with what is on this chart =  penelope.uchicago.edu/.../colors.html

the third set in from the left of what they show as different variances of RLM colors for 70 & 71. I just like the Edwards depiction of what looks like RLM70 and some tint of brown, more contrast then the green & green of 70 & 71.

Just be careful of whose RLM's you use.

Humbrol is pretty good.

There is a Spainish company I saw on U-tube that has water based colours you can use in your airbrush right out of the bottle and the colours are really nice.

Not to mention no smell .

There were some British companies that made really accurate colours

1)  Precision  or

2) Compucolour

If you would like I have a lot of it almost all various colours. With overseas shipping I paid about $3 a tin.

I would sell you some same price, and some nominal shipping price.

We had a master modeler in our club who eventually went on to found, "Accurate Models" this guy loved those paints.

Let me know

Don't try and match their colors. Just use what they say. The profile is just an artists interpretation and not meant to be totally accurate. I believe they give gunze callouts.

I'm deep into the build and am using their camouflage/paining directions. In the picture they show a splinter pattern of RLM70 and RLM71, but the color on the picture makes the 71 look brown where it is a dark green, not as dark as the 70, but dark. So instead of getting a brown and blackgreen cammo, I get a 2 tone green. Is this correct? Or should I try and match the colors as picture or are the pictures purposely done this way to show the splinter pattern better? Thanks for the help.
