How do you display your aircraft?
Posted by tempestjohnny on Sunday, March 1, 2015 4:20 PM

I'm sure this has been brought up before.   Maybe I'm over thinking this but my question is....do you just put all of your planes together for display or do you separate them by country,  type, or another way?  I'm not sure how i want to display mine is the reason for asking.

Also I build in multiple scales.

I just put them in my curio cabinet any way that looks nice.

I have mine in a couple custom-made display cabinets.  They are somewhat organized by era, or maybe even "theme", as in Century Series, Korean War, Modern jets, etc.   When I do get some of my stalled builds finished, I will just about be full again.  And, I have no other spot in our house in which to place another.  I'll cross that bridge when I get there I guess...Big Smile

I just put them in the cabinet or on the shelves wherever they fit.  Don't have to put cars on separate shelves as they fit under the wings of the planes even though they may be different eras.

I rearrange them often.

I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.

Have fun.

I have my posted on tops of dressers and shelves till I find I curio cabinet I like. They are arranged randomly, but I suspect once I get a cabinet, I'll arrange them by era, country, etc.

My OCD has me keep them all divided...

By scale, era, type,  and nationality...or any other reason!

All planes (well, 95%) sit with the port side showing...all angled the same.

Choppers (all choppers...don't have enough for breaking em down, like the planes) are separate and angled to show the right side.

I have one shelf that is a mixed bag of scales, eras, types and nationalities...just because they won't fit on the shelves with their category....I call it the "*** shelf"...it drives me bat$#!T insane!

I don't have a curio cabinet and with really limited shelf space around the house, I try to mount my aircraft to some kind of backing that I can attach a picture wire to so they can be wall mounted.  Ships get a shelf where I can find one.  Of course we're also short on wall space, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Another very simple option, is to hang em by the tail w/ fishing line...as seen above my main display shelves. Just tie the line in a loop, wrap the tail, hang on small nail or thumb tack.

Fermis, how often do you have to "dust" your models?
