Does anyone have experience building this kit? If so, what issues will I encounter getting her built? I received one for a Christmas gift and it has markings for a Millington NAS bird that I'm excited to render.

Are you sure it's 1/72?   I'm pretty sure Roden only makes a 1/48th.  If you were interested in a 1/72 T28, Heller makes one which I have built.  It's a great kit for the money (it's an old kit)

I built the SWORD 1/72 T-28C for FSM review about a year or so ago. Al Jones also reviewed the 1/48 Roden kit in FSM a few years ago.

Thanks, y'all; I'll look up the reviews. It is 1/72; there is a real lack of mounting tabs for the rear stabilizers, and I wasn't sure that I shouldn't glue the fuselage together before mounting the cockpit.

Is NAS Millington still around, Vol? The last I remember hearing about it, it was converted to a logistics base, with an IRS processing center attached to it. Hope you have a good build with that T-28!

Double D, it's still around in the form you mentioned. It at least gives us an opportunity to see the Blues every other year! I also saw some A-4's and TV-2's that I'd like to build up as well. I'm starting a build history of airbases in  my area; there are some interesting ones that many folks are unaware of in the Golden Circle area.

MississippiVol,

Is the airfield still used by the Navy (maybe the reserves), I haven't heard of it before?  The only thing Millington is now known for is BUPERs where all the detailers live, orders are written, and promotion boards happen.  The NSA Mid-South (Millington) website doesn't list any aviation tenant commands (though those websites are actually suspect at times).

Groot,

No aviation assets are at the airfield anymore. They had  A-4's and A-7's out there at the end for firefighting training, I think it was the late 80's, early 90's when it closed up shop on the aviation part. I drove by Blytheville, AR today on a job function; I miss the B-52's that they had out there. There was an IPMS chapter there in the 80s that ran some model shows, and we always drove by the airbase to see them fly.
