I think the grey looks pretty close but a bit flatter is better, I would agree. Here is a pretty good period color photo of the area.

You have done a beautiful job on the F-86D. I'll have to get one of those kits after seeing yours. Does anyone know what was done to the center section of the real F-86 wings. The few I have seen up close look as though the section is anodized metal, or some sort of "treatment", rather than paint.
Love the Saber, but your computer is infected with some adware called "downloaditkeep." It is injecting ads into the text that you post.
Just google the name for instructions on how to remove it.

TY Chuck, I used a grey acrylic mix that I have used before. I probably should have put dullcote over it. Shawn G.
TY Mike, I agree, I think the Sabre is my all time variant favorite.
Sbemo - NICE! I'm glad yo usay the kit is a good one. I'm hoping to start one after my Felixstowe is docked. What paint did you use for the grey, if I might ask? Nice job...

Very nice! The Sabre is still one of my favorite jets.

My father was 18 when he loaded the Mighty Mouse rockets on F-86Ds. They were replaced by F-102s shortly after. Thoroughly enjoyed the kit, main fit problem was intake. There are some ejector marks. I added detail behind pilot seat. I added "firing pins" in back of rocket tray. The seat arm rest are in raised position, you may want to lower. Kitty Hawk will be issuing a F-86K also. I will convert another F-86D to F-86L.
