Keep in mind that there is a forum just for decals and decaling, so if you do not find what you need in general discussion forums you might try the decaling forum.

+1 on the microscale decal film. It has saved my butt more than a few times.

I have used decal seal spray on old decal sets with great success. I have a can of Micro-Mark decal spray that is used to seal the decals that you print yourself. But I had an old set of decals for a squadron that I was doing and the first decal just crumbled when I tried to apply it. I sprayed the sealer and trimmed the rest of the decals close to their edge and was able to get the decals applied. You still need to use care as they are still delicate, but go on in one piece.

Good advice. This makes sense to me, as I was wondering how the stuff worked.

Also, be aware that once you put liquid decal film on it, you have to cut it out precisely around the colored image. You can't have any overlap or it will stick to the paper. So it pays to be neat with the liquid film.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Make a scan of the decal sheet before you begin.  Then you will have a backup to print a new sheet on decal paper, if you need it.

Oh, right. I've heard of this. On order through eBay. I'll give it a shot. Thank you!

Yes. Use something like Microscale Liquid Decal Film. Paint it over the decal, allow to dry & apply as normal.

Shattering decals

I've read about this happening, and I have been lucky with decals... until tonight: Hasegawa's P-47D Razorback. Fortunately, I've got a spare set of these decals with a duplicate kit. Is there a mitigation strategy for horrible decals?
