Finished this one today.  All the bloody details are in the Group Builds section titled B-36.  I learned a lot doing this one. You should build one too!

I've seen one up close at the museum, what a monster.  It seems to dwarf my beloved B-52D.

I'd build one but I just don't have the room.

Same here, so I went with the hobbycraft 144 scale one and it still takes up a lot of room!

John, I've been watching some of those builds over in that GB, and have been really enjoying the progress.  Yours is a beautiful rendition.  I like the subtle tonal differences between some of the panels on the exterior.

I applaud you, and am jealous I don't have one of these my stash........... yet.

Built that kit back in the late 70s. A big kit no doubt.

That is a beauty. It brings back memories. My mother has a picture of me standing next to one at Shanute Field (Air Force Base) in Rantule IL. The wheel/tire is as tall as I was at that time. That aircraft is huge. It is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in the air. It seems as if it is in slow motion. The AC47 also left a lasting impression. I love the Golden Age of Aviation aircraft and the 1950s/60s. The B-52, B-36, B-47, B-57, B-66 and the fighters of the era kept the bear at bay. That is a great build and tells the story of the long range bomber that could reach out and touch any enemy anywhere in the world. Thanks for sharing.

Toshi, if you can get the Mrs. to buy you a model you have got it made. I have been married for 45 years and the Mrs. has never bought me a model. She has always claimed that I already have to many. Both of my kids are out of the house and on their own so I thought one of their rooms would be a great model room. Both rooms are now an extension of my wife's closet. What was I thinking? I'm still in the basement and losing ground to my kids stuff, my wife's stuff, her mother's stuff, and my mother's stuff. When I build my B-36 I will have a hard time finding a place to put it.

Nice job there. It's good to see this kit get built, instead of buried in stashes, as they usually are.

Well, he could always add a 1/72 B-47 or even a 1/72 Jimmy Stewart if he ever felt the need to show just how big the real B-36 was.Hmm

I really like the results after all that hard work on the Monogram kit Toast
Local Chicago tv broadcast the old move "Strategic Air Command" last week and reminded me of why I became enamored with the aircraft.
Haven't seen that movie in decades.

You know, Spruce, that's a great idea - adding a Jimmy Stewart figure along side of it. "Strategic Air Command" is one of my favorite movies.

Mine, too! Never saw it on DVD- only available on VHS and more recently as an on-line download.
Would be nice to see the movie in 1080 Hi Def !

I saw "Strategic Air Command"  in the boarding school I was attending in the auditorium on a Friday night sometime in 1955 or '56. I was twelve and thirteen in '55 and '56 respectively.

The OP's B-36 looks great! It's always been one of my favorite aircraft.

To give you some idea of how big this thing really is, here's a couple shots:

That is a BIG bird and you certainly did a really nice job putting it together. We had one of those displayed on stilts at the base where I went to tech school (Champaiqn-Urbana, IL. Chanute AFB) when I was in the AF many moons ago. I always loved how it looked. You have certainly did it justice.

There was an idea back there, a Jimmy Stewart series.  A B-29, B-36, B-47, and B-52.  All you have to do is find out what version/versions of each and what squadrons and markings and paint jobs.

Thanks again for the nice comments, all.  I got all inspired and I am nearly done with a McDonnell XF-85 (MPM) and starting an Italeri RF-84K to pose with it.  The Italeri kit is getting a little old but it's all there is in 1/72.
