Outstanding work Toshi Embarrassed

I guess you missed my comments on 1/144 pe testing ones patienceBang Head.

Thank you so much plasticjunkie.  No, I recall now the comments on the 1/144 PE issues.  I've just never encountered a styrene kit that has nothing that fits!  Every peg must be cut off and realigned.  Things must be cut, scrapped, drilled, etc.  This kit is crazy bad.  Plus I have to adjust things with the PE of which is a given.

I'm almost ready to junk this build in the trash!  But I'll continue to fight this kit and am determined to win this battle.  LOL!  Thank you for your kind comments, I greatly appreciate your visit, read, and reply on my threads.

I've just never encountered a styrene kit that has nothing that fits!  Every peg must be cut off and realigned.  Things must be cut, scrapped, drilled, etc.  This kit is crazy bad.  Plus I have to adjust things with the PE of which is a given.

All the reviews I have read mention some fitting problems here and there including the locator tabs in the engine that are off. Sometimes a kit becomes somewhat of a challenge to get things to line up but it's part of the hobby so don't get discouraged. I have this problem child in my stash and I'm well aware of what to expect once I start on it.

Once the problems are conquered you end up with a great looking model so keep pushing yourself. If you come up on a brick wall, step back and walk away from the bench and return once you are ready to deal with the problem.

URL IMG http://www.use.com/images/s_2/851fbbb6648accaaf16d.jpg /IMG /URL

This is all the relevant code needed to post your pictures. You need the brackets [ ] around the URL, /URL, IMG, and /IMG. Not sure why that got all the extra code in there or why it didn't work.

Toshi

Testing from use.com

%5BCENTER%5D%5B URL =http://www.use.com/MkLl7%5D%5B IMG%5Dhttp://www.use.com/images/s_2/851fbbb6648accaaf16d.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL %5D%5BURL=http://www.use.com/MkLl7%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://www.use.com/images/clicklarge3.gif%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D%5B/CENTER%5D

Not sure what scrambled the coding there. the underlined stuff is unneeded and there should be Brackets [ ] around the [URL] for it to work. That coding is really messed up, but I think I can fix it. The odd "%5D" and "%5B" must be the codes for the brackets.

Edit; Fixed it. Hi Kitty Cat!

To plasticjunkie,

I completely agree with your statement.  I've just never encountered a kit this bad before especially at this price range.  At this cost, I'd expect a kit that had a better fit and finish.  But such is so and as I mentioned earlier, I will win and complete this disaster of a kit.  LOL!  I will definitely persevere! Thank you always for watching my back.  I so greatly appreciate this, you don't know how much it means to me.  Thank you sir for everything!

Where are you getting this code from? It takes quite a bit of editing to make it work. You want the code at the very bottom of the list for forums and blogs. The very last one. Should be a simple click to copy and then ctrl V to paste it in the box. Sould just work without any editing involved lol.

That's what I'm utilizing.  I tap the last code of which is simple and when I paste, I get ten million codes that bombard me.  I don't know what's going on?  Maybe my iPad is possessed!  LOL!

At this point, I had to readjust the cowling to engine attachment points as nothing was in line.  Once adjusted, Tamiya White Putty was utilized for any gap issues that occurred.  Some sanding and assembly of the wings bacame viable.  Thank you forum members for following this most trying of builds especially after PB erased most of my pics!

Thank you iampiper13.  I try my best in my builds to keep up with you guys.  As for my attitude I can only laugh at myself as it takes too much energy to be angry.  Upset, disappointed, but not angry.  LOL!  Thanks for your support iampiper13, it's greatly appreciated!

Nice to see the progress you've made on the plane. Though the kit had fitting issues and other shortcomings, I believe you can fix them all and come out with a very nice model.

Seeing the problems you had with PB and other image hosting services, I'd like to suggest that you create a photo album on Facebook and post a link to that album. You can update it by adding more pics, or you can create new albums. It's easy, fast and free!

Thank you model maniac!   And thank you for your confidence in my meager but acceptable skills, I'll do my best to complete this kit.  I am most appreciative in your recommendation of FB.  But for now, I'll stick with what I have available here until then.  Thank you model maniac for you continued support in my projects and I definitely am excited to see your next acquisitions.

Yes by the looks of the main pontoon this thing is a behometh compared to it's little brother the classic Monogram Kingfisher.  As far as looking or going to look great, that's a whole 'nother thread!  LOL!

i had thought that now I'm in the home stretch!  I guess not.  The attachment points for the main pontoon is a joke at best so now I have to come up with another way to adhere the main pontoon to the bottom of the fueselage!  This kit is becoming much more fun than I thought, what's next!!!  LOL!

Current progress.

Current progress.  Interesting at best.  I think I'd rather build the original 1974 Monogram 1/48 Black Widow.  Wait a minute!  I just purchased a sealed box for cheap and got some Vector cowls and props with interior and exterior Eduard PE.  LOL!  That will be a cake walk compared to this awful kit.

Right now my issue is that the contact points of the pontoon to the fueselage is minimal at best.  You would think something this large would have been better engineered, but I guess not, bad engineering is what's this kits all about.  I'll never purchase another Kitty Hawk kit unless they come out with a Corsair!  LOL!

BTW, the beaching gears don't fit.  The white metal AM ones nor the kit ones!  LOL!  I have to re drill the holes to make them fit.  It's not a tight fit, it's an impossible fit.  If I pushed any more harder, the main pontoon would have cracked.

The engine mount was so poorly engineered that it came loose yesterday.  I heard a rattling sound every time I picked up the Kingfisher.  I thought it was a loose radio component in the fueselage.  I couldn't figure it out!  Then out of the blue, I see a partial piece of the engine sticking out of the cowl!  LOL!  So I turned this ridiculous kit upside down and re glued the engine with gorilla CA glue to the best of my abilities while upside down then I finally got it glued down to some semblance of a Kingfisher!  LOL!  This is the worst funniest kit I've ever worked on.

This ladies and gentleman this is the Three Stooges, Marx Brothers, and Laurel and Hardy of model kits!  Ha ha ha ha ha ha!  Now I know that at every turn, a surprise awaits me.  LOL!

Toshi,

Good to see you still working on this difficult build and staying afloat (I couldn't resist, but should have).

I feel the pain with fiddly builds, but your doing a grand job of it and will sail through it (again sorry for the bad pun).

May you be blessed with wind in your sails to complete this build.
