Completed Trumpeter 1/32 Vought F4U-1D Corsair with Big Ed Set
Posted by Toshi on Thursday, July 27, 2017 12:50 PM

To my fellow forum members,

Here is my next project of which will be my seventh Corsair build in two and half years.  If I count the amount of Corsairs I built as a child, that amount would probably be in the dozen or so Corsair builds.  LOL!  Could the Corsair be my favorite aircraft of all time?  Uh, yea!  LOL!

I've seen this particular Trumpeter kit several times hence I just had to have it!  So, please sit back ladies and gentleman and enjoy this build with me.  Oh yes, don't forget that I have a Eduard Big Ed Set as well as a Scale Aircraft Conversions landing gear set for this particular kit.  Thank you all for supporting and following my WIP.  I so greatly appreciate it!

Toshi, I always say, you can never have enough Corsairs.  I think I am at twelve.

This will be fun to watch.

I am interested in your opinion as to which 1/32 Corsair kit is the best one.

Hey There Mr. Toshi. Yes, it is I, your fellow Corsair lover. I regret that I have not been fully tuned in and active for roughly 4 months but, I'm working my way back into it. And what a way to come back. To find you building yet another Corsair. That, my friend, feels just right.Big Smile. I'll need to go back and catch up on what else you have been up to.

Anyway, this ought to be a fun one to follow with. Often considered picking this kit up so, it will be a pleasure to watch you work this one over. I have to admit that at least on my end, your pics are not showing up from flickr. Hence I need to individually open each one to view. Is this how it is from your end? Just not sure if it was me having issues or what.

Just for your info, I have resurected my 1/72 Tamiya Corsair WIP. Drop in.

Without question, the best 1/32 Corsair of all time is the Tamiya Corsair.  By far, the most accurate and precision detailed Corsair kit ever!  IMHO!

I will Definately drop in on your 1/72 Corsair build, that will be fun!

Yes, as far as Flickr is concerned you are doing it correctly as I too must individually open each and every line to view a photo on my end as well.

Good luck on your future endevours for your Corsair build.  I think I'd like to build one more Corsair a 1/72 Academy from HL!

Some meager engine wiring.  Also the completed Pratt and Whitney.

Hey Toshi, that is some delicate work you are doing.  You have definitely figured out how to work with PE.  That is a nice looking pit so far.  Can't wait to see the whole pit put together.  Nicely done.

Have fun,

Thank you sir, I'm still trying to figure out how to work with PE.  LOL!  The cockpit wasn't too bad, it's the side control systems that were a challenge.  Still working on those and am now building up the PE seatbalets. Thank you for always supporting my builds and the read and replies!

Hey Toshi, great looking build.  I really like what you did with the engine and especially the exhaust tubes.  Really cool look on those.  The pit is looking awesome too.  I'll be following this one closely.

Cheers, Mark

Your engine work always amazes me. I'd send you some of mine to finish but you will want to hit em with a hammer.....which would actually improve them !

I just got a Corsair  so I 'm following along. so I can "steal " some of your ideas.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Toshi, I just finished checking out your Flickr pics for this build. That PE stuff is tiny even at the 1:32 scale. Good grief!! It's looking pretty sharp. Can't wait to see more of this shape up. =]

It's a 1/72 scale Testors kit. Decals for 3 WWII  birds. No cockpit at all and only has about 25 parts so it's just for practice. I'm going to go with Non specular blue over intermediate blue. The engine is one piece molded to the cowl so I have to do somthing about that. Otherwise it will look just toylike.

I'm counting down the days untill my shop is cleared for me to work ( the wife just "dragged" me to Tuson to get all the kitchen counters ) so on the way home I bought some paint. I should be up and running sometime next week.  YAY !!!

Will DEFENETLY be posting pictures as soon as I find the shop floor. (it's so full I can open the door but can't get in. )

I havent glued anything to anything in 3 years so watching you work has made me feel like a kid waiting in line to see santa.... are we there yet .... are we there yet.....

Superb work on the engine and cockpit Toshi. You seem to be working quite comfortably with that PE.
