I am building this mosqueto and it is a nicely detailed kit.
The cockpit is OOB , I just added masking tape belts.

Bomb bay detail also nice
The fuselage joint seams are not what I expect from tamiya, had to fill and sand them. However the necell to wing and wing to fuse fit looks nice.
I was planing the all over PRU blue but not seeing how big the model is and the lack of pannelline to pre shade I am thinking I need to remove the cameras and put the bombs in to do the bomber scheme, atleast this will break up the mono tone look more.

WOW!! Great job so far, Theuns! I've got that same kit in the stash - got it off of eBay a couple of years ago. Hope mine turns out as nice as yours.
Is that a brick that you're using as your background? Now THAT'S different!! And imaginative!!

Nice start to your Mossie build, you will hopefully enjoy the build as I did.
I will follow your progress with interest.

I have that problem too, and it's darn annoying. I propose we protest!
Great looking Mossie. Very cool birds.
Looks good. I always liked the Mossy. Can't wait to see paint.

Here is the undercart, I like the way tamiya captured the complex feel of the mechanism.
Hoping to get primer on the airframe today.
Landing gear looks great, looking forward to the primer and first coat of paint.
You're doing fine justice to this excellent kit. The office looks superior.
I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.
Ta.
I got the primer on, gave it a sanding with 4000 MM then did the preshading aswell as added some dark areas to "modulate" the paint and give it a slight faded patchy look, paint does not fade in a nice uniform way ,especially where the painter overlapped it with the spraygun.
In direct sunlight the effect is more clear than in this pic

I have been bitten twice not by tamiya rattlecan clearcoat stuffing up my enamels, I will nnever use it again!!!
Hope to sand it off and re-paint.
I feel your pain, I had a similar issue on my current build this evening.
If only somebody could manufacture a clear coat that works over EVERY surface that doesn't cause these situations.
Oh man I consider the wrinkled paint as a disaster. I had one or two mishaps such as this and just couldn't press on. In my case the process of sanding off the wrinkled paint messed up the details so I simply quit on the kit, bought a new kit and started over.
I sanded the area in the pic and it is only the enamel that was affected, not the primer or plastic. When I san I do however go trough the primer in some areas. It will be rather tough to try blend in the top PRU blue to match the rest of the paint. Maybe I will prime the whole thing again and hope I dont loose to much detail.
It's good to see you around again Theuns. Sorry to hear your trouble with painting. Hang in there. =]
Some times a nasty hiccup like that is an opportunity laying in wait. ;)

If I remember correctly, the Tamiya rattle can clear coat is laquer-based, isn't it? If so, it and enamels do not mix. But, I'm probably wrong about that.....
my alclad clearcoats are also laqure, that does not affect the emamels. This rattlecan stuff however does.
Ah well it happens.
I AB my Corsair with Mr. Paint which is has a laquer based paint, let it sit for 5 weeks and used Mr. Paint Semi Gloss clear and it did a not to dissimilar thing to my build. Im going to try Tamiya X-22 and Tamiya laquer thinners 50:50 next time, apparenty its the best clear coat (just test it first).
I have used X22 with thinners before, it works well. However on a matt paint it take a few coats to build up a gloss. I start off with a 50/50 mix for first 2 coats then go for a 80/20 highly thinned mix to help it flow better.
I sanded the rough areas, hop I didnt loose to much detail.... now I need to totally re-prime and paint, stay tuned
Good Luck, Theuns!! I hope it comes out great for you. Don't let it beat you!!
My second attempt, this time more weathered and faded. For the clearcoat I will use X22.
