Ordnance positions on Pylons

Just curious if any of you pilots or former ground crew could shed light on this for me......is there any specific reason why on the F15E, that when carrying AIM-9X (or any of the SRAA missiles) and AIM-120's, that the 9X is mounted on the inner most rail of the wing pylon and not on the outer rail like most if not almost all fighters have set up? Dont most fighters mount the 9 on the wingtip (i.e. F18 )or a pylon closest to the wingtip if there are not wingtip pylons. Is this always the case when carrying a 9 AND a 120 on the same pylon?
Kick the tires and light the fires!
