I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
Very nicely made model. The Mig 3 is a very good looking aircraft, and there is an airworthy restoration now, though if I remembar correctly it has an Allison engine.

Very nice. Can you describe how you painted it?
keavdog,
I'd be happy to tell how I painted it. After primer, I sprayed black in the areas that the camo separation lines are at. Then I layed down poster putty worms over the black then just painted the rest of the camp pattern
That's some nice paint!! I think the 3 looks best too.

God, Family, Models...
At the plate: 1/48 Airfix Bf109 & 1/35 Tamiya Famo
On deck: Who knows!
Thanks,
John
Appreciate the response...I think I'll be happy with the Trumpeter CP, maybe add a bit of PE and let it go at that.
mrmike Very nice; the build and the base look great! How was the cockpit? The kit version is pretty basic, but AM resin has a reputation for troublesome fit.

the Aries resin cockpit was more trouble than the rest of the kit put together. The issues weren't necessarily a fit issue as much as it was the parts just staying together. Overall the kit went together very well. I used minimal filler. The base was purchased from Hobby Lobby. I made the pad out of popcycle sticks, painted using oil paints.
Nice looking build. How did you build the base?
Your comments and questions are always welcome.
Well done!

Outstanding work. I'd have to agree that it's the best looking Russian fighter. The others seem so crude. Thanks for sharing.
"Can you fly this plane and land it?...Surely you can't be serious....I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"
I like the 3 also, looks fast just standing there. How was the Trumeter kit?
we're modelers it's what we do
Try this one more time
I finished this one a couple months ago. I always thought that the Mig 3 was the best looking Russian fighter of WW2. As the header reads, this is the Trumpeter 1/32 Mig 3. I added a Aries cockpit, and Quick Boost exhaust. There are no exterior decals. I used Montex Masks for all exterior markings. I replaced the kit gun barrels with brass tubes. I added brake lines using wire and added actuating rods inside the radiator door. I used a combination of Tamiya and Mr Paints with Flory washes.
