Good evening everyone!
A few months ago I started Hasegawa's F9F-2 Panther kit, and so far the build has been going along quite smoothly. My only gripe about this kit are the decals - they are super thin and crack easier than eggshells! I actually had to cut up the red stripes for the second marking option from the decal sheet to "patch" the red squadron identification markings on the option I went with. Aside from that it's been a breeze. Also, I fully intended to make this a wheels-down, stationary bird. But I had never built a model "in-flight" before. So I decided to glue the gear doors in place, drill a hole in the bottom of the jet, and stick it on a clear styrene rod. But how am I supposed to keep the plane supported? That's right, with a scenic display involving a wrecked T-34/85 tank, some goats, and a few other things. So what SHOULD have been a simple build using a kit I've had in my stash for over twelve years turned into something much more complex. But hey, it's fun! Here are some progress shots.
