This was a side project of mine during my Catalina diorama project over in the Floats and Boats Group Build. I decided I would build this one as clean as possible for a change. It was fun to do a short clean build and this kit wasnt bad for $5. Model master and tamiya paints were used. Biggest issue with these old kits is the AZ heat for me. This one ws no different as the decals were brittle.

Nice to see a classic get put together.  I just moved to AZ a few months ago - what is the issue?  My kits are still in San Diego in storage until our new house is finished in dec-feb.

Thanks,

John

If you don't temp control your decals they will get cracked and brittle in AZ. Mine live in a storage shed so...what part of az? PhX here.

When I was in the Army and traveled a lot, I put together what I called my "TDY" model set (temporary duty). It was a small, green plastic tackle box I got from Walmart back in the day for $5. Inside was some testors model building tools, a jar of glue, small bottles of paint, etc.

I kept a small 1/72 scale tank or airplane kit inside. Also some of those bagged Revell Star Wars kits that used be be sold at Marshall's and TJ Maxx for like $5.

I could build while in a hotel room or some other suitable spot. I really started to love those tiny Star Wars kits that were prepainted and required a little bit of glue and clamping and some touch up painting.

One of my favorite 'fun' kits. Looks great, very nice job!

Since it's a Mono boxing I assume it's vintage...but for new kits, I've found that simply popping the decals into a zip-lock sandwich bag does wonders for protecting against the dangers of high temps (and consequent drastic changes in humidity). Just my 2 cents.

My favorite plane. Never thought of building one that clean. Very nice build! Yes Yes Think I'll give it a try.
