Great job on both, but, I really like the Zero. You did the weathering quite well.

Good stuff like the P-40
Very nice work Brian!
Look like a couple of weary war birds to me. P-40's are my favorite planes.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
Thanks for the kind words and warm welcome. I'm still working on my building and the weathering techniques, some I used years ago and some I've just recently learned. I must be a glutton for punishment and putty- next on the bench is a Revell 1/48 P51D. I never had much luck with this kit when I was younger, we'll see if the 3rd time is a charm!
Welcome back to the hobby! Couple nice builds. That classic old P-40 kit brings back memories.
Thanks,
John
I like the weathering on the Zero ,very well done!
Hey Brian, nice work! I think those look pretty sharp. The "sponge technique" looks to have produced a pretty good finish. I'd expect it to look more stipled.
I like the look of the AVG P-40. I just got Airfix's boxing of its P-40, and I'm planning on doing a Flying Tiger, too. Thanks for the inspiration!
Looking forward to your next submission.
Cheers!

-It's Omar, but they call me "O".
After being out of modeling for 10+ years, I took the plunge and decided to finish a 1/48 Tamiya A6M3 Zero I had started well over 10 years ago. I bought a few new supplies and had at it. I went with a "field applied" green finish, which I applied with a sponge. I had done the canopy lines in gray when I started it and just left well enough alone. I had so much fun finishing this one, I went out and updated my paints and supplies, and bought a compressor for my airbrush. I decided to tackle an old classic- Revell's 1/48 P40B. This kit was actually the first aircraft I ever built, with my Dad's help when I was maybe 12 years old. I went with the AVG scheme and built the kit from the box, with a few scratch built details. I masked this canopy with Tamiya tape, my first masking job. Hopefully the photos work, enjoy and please go easy on me- I've been out of the game for a while
