I know there are much better, more expensive P51 kits out there, but this one is a personal challenge. This is my 3rd go at this kit. I built the Monogram "Detroit Miss" as a kid, and it was terrible, with it's Testors gloss yellow out of the bottle nose. I tried another Monogram kit later, and my experiment with Model Master metalizer was a complete disaster, that one didn't even get finished.
So far so good with #3. I'm doing an out of the box build, using the kit decals for the Big Beautiful Doll, with the exception of the wingtip decals. I used Vallejo aluminum and olive drab out of their Air War CBI theater set. I'll do the underside of the wingtips tomorrow, and probably start in on the nose decals. If that goes well, the rest should be fairly smooth sailing. I'll post again when it's done.
