Looks great! I have the same kit, was going to do it as a Dec 6 Pearl Harbor SBD. But I really like the pre-war colors you did.....
Thanks, Chris and Mr. M.
Beautiful! Love the golden wings planes.
Nice work John!
Thanks, Brandon and Jim, much appreciated.
Very nice build John!
Stay Safe.

Nice work, John. Glad it all came together in the end. Well done.

Omar, the aluminum color was Alclad, a first layer of white aluminum followed by ALC 101 auminum in light coats. The antenna wire is EZ Line. My preference is USCHI Fine, but for some reason my CA would not adhere to it. I suggest you look closely at the decals in your kit, I have 3 AM SBD-1 kits and none of them aged well. Yellow Wings makes replacements.
Thanks for your nice comment and interest.
Hey John, that's a nice lookin' build! I like the colors. Speaking of colors, could you tell me what you used for the silver lacquer? I have a few builds (this same kit included) in the pipeline that require a silver lacquer paint scheme, and yours looks smart.
Another question, if I may. Could you tell me what you used for your antenna wires? Looks very convincing.
Thanks in advance and congrats on a nice build.

-It's Omar, but they call me "O".
Until the Army/Navy Standardization Board of 1941, USN had their bombs, and the USA had their bombs, never really the twain shall meet. Then the USA became the bomb designers for most of the USN's bombs. From 1923 the USN's practice bombs were black. In 1930, the USA's were white which changed sometime before 1942 to blue. WIP: Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 73rd BS B-26, 40-1408, torpedo bomber attempt on Ryujo
Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 22nd BG B-26, 7-Mile Drome, New Guinea
Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as LB-30, AL-613, "Tough Boy", 28th Composite Group
Thanks, Rich, that's a useful document. I followedAccurate Miniature's color call out for practice bombs, which can sometimes be a foolish thing to do, but I also found this photo. I wonder if the regulations changed at some point?
An excellent build there, John. I have only one quibble. Are those bombs supposed to be USN practice bombs? If so, they should be painted black according to OP-1664, volume 2, page 439. Or OP-878, page 16.

Thanks, everyone! Sorry about the trouble with the photos.
Carlos, he's got his head down trying to find the relief tube, a detail AM left out!
John that is one gorgeous Yellow Wings build! I really love the shot with the prop turning! (where's the pilot or plane captain?)
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

I don't see them in your post, either, John. I see the Windows icon for broken image links. However, if I click on the icon, I get navigated to the images at goldeneramodel.com
Beautiful finish!
The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
Yeah. Am I missing something?
OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...
That came out nice. I like the look of those pre-war navy paint schemes.
Thanks, all. Yes, I know about the https issue and will have to move my website. I think I will start putting my current builds on the new website because it will take awhile to get all of my current website changed over. Years, most likely! The owner of the original host doesn't support SSL certificates.
Beautiful built. I love the AM kits, they had a bunch of kits in that area. By the way, most people will need to click on the pic placeholder to see those pics. The site you are hosting the pics on doesn't support https, so lots of browsers will start blocking it by default. See if you can get a ssl certificate from your hosting provider. They usually will give you one free or at nominal annual fee.

I couldn't find the SBD, John.
This was built for the Between the Wars GB here. Many tiny and fragile parts but if you survive that you get a pretty nice replica. Older kit and the decals gave me fits but in the end, with the help of a second kit I got there.
