I started this huge 1/32 scale Tamiya F4 back in November as a commission. It has taken longer than usual but several life things came in between and went. My motivation level was a bit low but that has come up so here she is as Robin Olds’ ship he flew in Vietnam. This is the first Tamiya kit I have built that had some fidly dum issues like not so well fit on a couple of minor areas, something unheard of about a Tamiya kit. The overall details are very good specially the cockpits, weapons and gear well details. Paints were Mr. Color lacquers that sprayed fantastic out of my extra fine Sotar. All demarcation paint lines were done freehand using the Sotar ab. The decals are from the kit and went on looking as if they were painted on. The loadout is standard MIGCAP configuration used during that conflict.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!

Awesome work! I can see why it took awhile to do. I have noticed the same as you when I built three Tamiya 1/32 F-15's, mostly perfect but I had to work a bit to get the best wing to fuselage fit and since I had to build them gear up the canopy and windscreen fit was an issue, they didn't conform well at the canopy bow. All three kits were the same in those areas. There has been an improvement at Tamiya over the years since then.

Thanks John. The intakes are not trunked so they have an ugly portion line inside the tunnel but the covers take care of the issue. A couple of fuselage parts needed extra fitting along with the wing halves that were not cooperating so extra care and work there.

I built the Navy version of that Tamiya kit many years ago. I don't recall fit issues on mine, but who knows since I've slept a bunch since then.

Thanks Mopar. A sharpened silver Prismacolor pencil over flat paint works wonders.
I finally found a couple of pit pictures I had taken during the build. The IPs were painted and the instrument faces dry brushed then clear plastic cement was added for the glass.
The seats were pretty much naked without the added pe details. The face curtain rings were sprayed yellow then thin masking tape strip was cut and wrapped using two twerzers. Once the tape was on black paint was sprayed and when dry the tape was removed producing an even wrapped stripe.
That's looks real good PJ. Doing a 1/32 phantom is in my bucket list.
