Very nice build!Toast Toast Toast

Only plane I ever built that was nmf was a 1/48 P-51 about 25 years ago. Loved the plane but I did a lousy job on the finish. Haven,t done another nmf since. Maybe one day...............

Stay safe.

The pressurized sections fore and aft of the bomb bays were shiny aluminum.

The whole center section was magnesium, dull gray.

Very nice build!!  I, too, have this kit in my stash and find the thought of building it daunting.  Maybe some day.....

I wish I could encourage you to pull it from the stash Gene, but it was slog!!!  I'm going to pick a *** builder for next project.  Airfix 1/72 F4F-4 Wildcat is my likely candidate.

Gotta hate those that take a lot of 'body work'.  The thing I'm finding the most daunting is the BMF.  Since they used different metals on the skin, you need to use different finishes/bases/colors, which just makes my head hurt thinking about it.  I do, though, also have a couple of B-58's in the stash, so I'll HAVE to do a BMF bird sooner, or later.

Regards,

Gene Beaird,

Pearland, Teas

Finished this large bird after many months.  My most difficult build since returning to the hobby 2 or so years ago.  A staggering amount of sanding and masking was performed.  Several times I was tempted to shelve it.

But here it is.  It is too big to get decent pictures indoors so we went out for some poolside shots in the sun.  I bow to you brave souls that built the 1/72 monogram.

I have a 1:144 in my queue.  It is just the right size,  I intend to build it as the prototype, which has the cockpit flush like a B-29, and a single huge wheel for each main LG.

That will look great!  Have always been fascinated by the enormous main wheels on that.  Only a few bases were capable of withstanding the concentrated weight from those single wheels.

Great collection there. Globemaster II!

My friend Airman Jim flew around the world in a Tennessee Air Guard one, with a brief stop in Vietnam.

I did build the Monogram Peacemaker, and pretty much the entire time swore at myself for not going with 1/144.

You did a great job.
