I am quite partial to Alclad.  First reason is that there are at least three sheens for aluminum; a polished Aluminum, a regular aluminum which is right for fresh but not polished, and a dull/weathered aluminum.  Second, this stuff goes on extremely thin, and by controlling the thickness you can get intermediate sheens.  Because of the thinness of the coating, this takes a lot of practice.  I have have lately been buying the polished and can get any sheen I want.

Ya did it again! Showing a photo of one of my Favorite birds from my Childhood.  She's just as beautiful to these tired old eyes as she was to my questing Young ones!

Hi KeithRob!

Listen, I have probably done four "Jugs" and I did them all with Foil Chrome, so I didn't have to deal with paint that may not have the same consistancy of color on different parts of the Plane. Besides before that final clearcoat, I can Buff the plane to a high sheen. I have not had luck with paints this way.  T.B.

So I'd like to paint a silver WW2 P-47 Thunderbolt.  But was wondering what brand makes the best silver paint for an aluminum finish?. . .thanks
