They were also the first bomb group to fly the B-24 and B-25 in combat
(Doolittle's Raiders were not a bomb group but a special unit)
I've got the Monogram B-26 and have been thinking about building it as one of
the 22nd's Marauders that participated in the battle of Midway. Yes, they hung
a torpedo under their B-26s.

Ray:

Thanks for posting the website link. If I recall my history correctly, the 22nd was the first unit to fly the Marauder in combat, and had an excellent record with it.

It's great to see the 22nd Bomb Group mentioned. My Dad was one of the
Red Raiders. Four squadrons of B-26's; 2nd Bomb Sqdn "Thunderbirds"
19th Bomb Sqdn "Silver Fleet" 33rd Bomb Sqdn "Red Dragons" and last but not least, 408th Bomb Sqdn "Reconners".
They have a great website at: http://www.redraiders22bg.com
Lots of photos of B-24, B-25, and B-26 (They flew all three types)

Hehe, sorry fellas. It was April 1st and I had to get some sorta joke in.

I've got two of the Monogram boxings of the Marauder kit and they're just screaming for some 320th BG Sharks' Mouths and some nose art!

I was sure jazzed for a minute there. Was thinking A/M would probably do a series of Marauders, including the earlier "B" models. Always wanted to do a 22nd Bomb Group "Silver Fleet" airplane. OH WELL !

Hey guys,
I have not really heard anything about AM coming out w/ a B-26. If its true that would be awesome..!!!!!
As to the B-25, AM had released the different variants of the 25 before they kinda disappeared(darn those 1/72 airliners)
So I am guessing that this will be a second release for the Mitchell.

I think you are referring to the B-25, which is now been I guess just rereleased in three versions the B-25B Doolittle Raider, the B-25 C/D and the B-25G. I have three of the B-25C/D's and a B-25B on the way.The kits are all almost the same with a few differences. The kit is a very beautiful rendition of the B-25. The B model allows you to build any one of the 16 Doolittle raiders. The C/D model has two sets of decals and I think the G has two sets also. Check Squadron.com or Greatmodels.com or ebay to find one they are out there and they are worth it.
