TAMIYA clear paint = future floor polish
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, January 31, 2003 12:16 AM
Can I get the same effect of using clear paints instead of the FUTURE floor polish? We do not have FUTURE retailers in the Philippines, and can't ask relative to bring home some due to airport security. Or are there others I can use similar to FUTURE?

If you want. I'll send you some... Clear paints will give you gloss finish, but Future is SO much easier to use and apply and will not react with any paint under or above. Let me know.

Yes, you can use Tamiya TS-13 Clear if you like....HOWEVER.....use it in LIGHT, I repeat LIGHT coats. Too heavy and the clear can start eating into the paint and especially decals below. So srpay lightly!

I know how u feel. I used to live there and i also had troubles looking for substitutes for the product. however, I brought back a bottle of Future when I visited a relative in the US (I am not sure if the security restrictions changed since then. I think you can bring it with you as long as it is not with your hand-carried baggage.) After that, I found one store in SM Megamall (Ortigas) that sells the product. It is called "Lil's Hobby shop" in the lowest level. I am not sure if they still have Future in their stock though because i remember just seeing ONE bottle in their glass cabinet. Just check them out and I'm sure they will be helpful.

Have a look if you can find some acrylic wood laquer I use a brand which I buy in Holland and it works just fine. They sell it in matt, semi gloss and in gloss. I can spray it with my airbrushe. I only need to dilute it.

The Tamiya clear works just as well as Future does. Unfortunately, it costs more in the long run and you DO have to be careful not to go too heavily with it. Try a low psi if you are airbrushing.
Happy modeling!

It might just be that you're looking for the wrong product; here in the UK, it's called Johnson's Kleer.

There is no Future or Kleer floor polish in the Philippines or any other equivalent (acrylic polish). I tried looking for such product there myself. I think the Tamiya clear should also work. I don't know which one is better though, the acrylic or the enamel version.
