Some real good ideas guys, thank you.

Thanks for the info Berny, looks like alot more work than I figured is needed. Ah well, good excuse for me to snaggle a few more aftermarket parts.....Whistling [:-^] This is the newer re-ishue kit with the 30 years of Phabulous Phantoms as the box art. From the looks of it my in detail and scale part 2 on the f-4E & G looks to have some very good material with helping my quest.

I am going to have to do alot more googling and find the variaty of cam patterns from the above mentioned ideas.

Thanks guys for everything. I will keep updayes as I go along.

As a starting point on the kit, where ever the instructions tell you to paint flat white, don't.  The inside intakes, wheel wells, gear doors, landing gear, inside of the speed brake well, were all gloss white.  The inside of the speed brake was gloss red.

The cockpit is one of the worst parts of the kit.  There is no detail at all for the sidewalls, center, rear deck, or areas behind the seat.  The glare shield doesn't have the RHAW scope, or sensor scope, so those will have to be added.  All F-4E were smart bombers so these items should be there.  The windshield bow doesn't have the AOA indexer lights, shoot lights, standby compass or any thing for that matter.  You will have to add them.  I would suggest an AM update for these areas.  Also go for AM seats and the Eduard color PE parts for the seat and cockpit.  The Blackbox for the Tamiya F-4, I am told will not work on the Revell kit.  I am sure some parts could be used, such as side walls and inst panels.

Another major area that will need work is the intakes.  I doesn't have intake trunks, and the seamless sucker intakes for the Revell kit are no longer in production.  The new seemless intakes sold my Meteor for the Tamiya F-4 will not work on the Revell kit.

The rear Sparrow missile wells are way too long.  You will have to fill in and sand the aft part of the well.  Place a Sparrow in the well and mark the rear end.  Fill in and smooth from there back.  This is where good reference will come in handy.

Another AM part you should get is wheels.  The kit wheels are not very accurate.  When painting and installing decals, remember this is the non TISEO and ARN-101 equiped aircraft, so watch your serial numbers close.

Edit:  This is the latest offering from Revell, isn't it?  The one with LES (Leading edge slats) and not the one released in the 70's?  If it is the early release, a lot of scratchbuilding will be needed to make it look anything at like a F-4E.

If it were me, I'd go with one of the Pharewell paintschemes applied to some ANG units in the last few days of the F-4's service, a 3TFW F-4E in Desert Storm, or a current Greek jet in the really cool Aegean blue camo.

You've got a LOT of camo schemes to choose from with an F4E. SEA, SEA wraparound, Europe/Lizard wraparound, Iranian, Israeli, German, Japanese (okay they last two aren't E models but can be made from an E kit)... Or some of the Edwards test birds in White with Red/Orange areas

Revell 1/32 F-4E

I have the big Revell 1/32 F4-E sitting here waiting to be built. I love the Phantoms, always been my fav, and the work I want to put into this kit is mind numbingly painfull to think about. I have the F-4 in detail and scale for reference pics. I am still deciding what mount to represent it as. Any suggestions? I am looking at perhaps a camo version as the all grey is getting kinda old for me. Any nationality would work, I would jus tlike to do a not so familar specimen. Any suggestions on corrections for the kit?

Can anyone give me suggestions on aftermarket parts....if needed. I am planning on wiring this puppy with rice and wheat bulbs as well. All I know so far is that this is going to be a 2 to 3 year minimum project and will determine my level of sanity by time it is completed. Clown [:o)]

Thanks
