Im quite shocked as well, I have a michaels right down the street that me and the wife go to all the time. I alway go to the model section knowing im not buying a kit cus I dont really have faith in revell kits anymore. I think im gonna look for one of those coupons and pick up that kit!

It is only the intellect that keeps me sane; perhaps this makes me overvalue intellect against feeling

Dupes I have both the Revell AG and the Revell USA kits and they are exactly the same mouldings.  The only differences are the box art, instructions and decals.

Cheers

I just purchased my Revell F-15E this week at Michaels using one of their 40% off coupons.  They have a coupon in the newspaper every week, at least in my area.

I built this plane once before, but it was before I knew how to hide seams well.  So, I'm gonna' give it another go.

The Pro-Modeler boxing of the kit was a short run release & has been OOP for a few years.  The basic kit is the same, but it included a sprue of very nice ordinance, not included in the Revell boxing.  The ordinance was better than that offered in the Hasegawa weapon sets IMHO.  Kit # 85-5965, they show up on eBay every once in a while.

The Revell F-15E kit is the only game in town. The price is right and it might be one of the best kits by Revell. Lack of ordnance is the only problem but easily fixed with one of the the Hasegawa weapons kits. I believe the ROG kit is the same kit. I don't know where you can find a pro modeller version, others might.

Wow, that was easy! 3-way consensus that fast has to mean something. Let me get this straight though, this is the Revell USA kit? Not Revell Germany? If so I'll admit to being a bit surprised.

The "pro-modeler" boxing of the kit - is it a differently numbered kit? Or same one, just some aren't labeled the same way?

It appears that I do actually have a Michaels in Maine now, and actually not that far away. Going to have to go poke around there a bit...and start looking for coupons!

Thanks fellas!

RJK & Radmax are spot-on with their recommendations.  Its been said that the Revell F-15E kit is the best 1/48th aircraft kit ever produced by Revell.. The Hasegawa kit is not bad, but in actuality, its modeled after the Strike Eagle demonstrator, which was a modified F-15B, & its missing some of the details of the actual E model.  I've got one of the Hase F-15E kits in my stash, but its destined to become either a Florida Air Guard F-15B or a 91st FS F-15D, not an E.  If there is a Michaels Arts & Crafts in your area, watch for their occasional sales inserts in the Sunday paper, especially close to the holidays.  They have 50% off coupons for models, & they do stock the Revell kit.  I got 6 of those kits that way last Christmas.

I believe the best bet in 1/48th is the Revell offering. The Hasegwa kit isn't that spectacular from what I've heard.

Hey guys, looking around for an 1/48 F-15E...got some decals for an OIF Strike Eagle, now I have to find the kit to matchBig Smile [:D]. Did some research, what I came up with for readily available kits are:

Academy 2117

Italeri 2631

Revell Germany 4550

Revell USA 5511

Hasegawa 7008/7021

Any input as to which of these are quality stuff? Which should be avoided? I'm assuming the Hasegawa has to be pretty decent, but if someone else has one that's equally buildable for half the price I can definitely swing that way. Wink [;)] Also, if there are any that I don't have on the list I'm open to suggestions.
