1/72 Tupolev ANT-25 (photo intensive)

After a nice long, protracted battle with misshapen kit parts and flash that would make a grown man cry, I can say that I'm done with this little jewel of a kit.  After a bit of polishing, of course.  Wink [;)]

Despite being a bit of a bear to build, I'm really glad that I did.  The kit is made by a company named Ikar, and was the only kit that the company produced.  I have to personally thank John, a.k.a. jeaton01, for letting me have his spare kit.  Otherwise, there would be no way I could get my hands on this kit.  Thanks!

Decals went down suprisingly well.  The only improvments I made to the kit were the addition of small underwing details, a new vacuformed canopy, and a replacement prop from the Matchbox Vickers Wellesley, the kit prop being more trouble than it was worth to clean up.

Any comments, honest criticisms, and/or questions are appreciated, and encouraged.  Thanks for looking!

Wow MIke, that's a gorgeous looking airplane you have there and like most of your builds I'm not likely to see another one like it.  Unless John builds his of course Wink [;)]  Thanks for  posting the pics. Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Lookin' good, Mike!  I see you went whole hog and put all the antennas and wires on.  I used wires made of Buckyballs on mine, they are so fine as to be invisible in 1/72 scale, and my loop antenna must be retracted!

Great build of a truly unique subject.  I'm going to google it, because I've never heard of an ANT-25.  It's such a large airplane for a single engine.

Nice build!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Mike, you said they were pretty hard to find, so out of curiosity I did a search. I found one for sale on ebay in the UK for a starting bid of GBP 7.00(approx US $14.57). Don't know how much shipping would be. Just thought somebody would like to know.Big Smile [:D]

Mike,

Nice work on the ANT, especially the paint job.  You need to switch gears and build something REALLY big like a 1/72 scale XF-85 Goblin!

...which is actually on my "want to build" list...  Big Smile [:D]

Lately I've been looking at a lot of WWI stuff, all of which is pretty tiny.  You may be seeing a few biplanes coming out in the following months..... we'll see.

Thanks for all the comments, guys.  They are all appreciated.
