Trexx, those 3 Curtiss airplanes flown by AVG pilots were not P-36s but three Curtiss-Wright CW-21 Demon interceptors that were bought by China. They were held in Burma by the British until 1941. The Chinese were also sold components for 32 aircraft to be built in China but it is unknown if they were completed. The Dutch also bought some for Java but it was a case of too little, too late as the Japanese demolished the Allied forces.
