Dan: Again, looks good! I normally just drill a hole in the hull of the model and stick a small piece of wire in the there to hold the track in the position I want it. The tow cables I tend to replace with picture hanging wire- which I've had better luck with.

Dan: Great work on that Dragon kit! I find their StuGs to be really lovely kits and you're doing one hell of a job on yours! I personally never used DS tracks on any model with sagging tracks (and I don't plan to do it - all those tracks are going to be replaced by friuls). I do have an idea how you could get some slight sag though: You could try heating the tracks a bit and stretching them a little...

The tow cables are a real pain in the rear. I used the kit supplied ones on my King Tiger build a while back and they nearly destroyed the model. I broke off 3 mounting brackets trying to get them onto the model and ended up fixing a lot of things as well as building two of the brackets from scratch. I switched to homemade towing cables made out of copper wire after that...

Gentleman, I finally got to start on the King Tiger.

It's very easy to work with, and Eduard did a good job sizing it to this model. I'm happy with the results so far.

Thanks Bruce, its looks nice. I have always shied away from AM zimm, but I am starting to think they might be worth a try.

I'll let you know my thoughts once I get the glacis plate installed and the turret zimmed. So far, I haven't had any edges meet.

As for me, I am calling my Panther done. I am gonna see if I can whip up a simple base for it, but I am done with the build itself. I finally got the weathering put on today. Not my best work as the flash revealed some spots that I missed, but the Mk.I eyeball missed those completely...

Looks very good Bruce, tried the pre-cut zimmerit for the first time early this year and really liked it.

Ok, I finally got the stand one... nothing major, just a little plaque that I bought at Michaels last night, some acrylic craft paint for the edging, Tamiya cobblestone cemented down, then spackle, sifted dirt attached with Future for texture, Burnt Umber paint for color, and some spices/seasonings for the foliage... it adds a huge element of atmosphere to the setting now I think...

On to the Meuse!!!

Its been I while since I've worked on my Panther. Here are so updated pictures of the zimmerit that I'm trying to apply. Bish I noticed that you haven't added me to the build yet. Its a Tamiya 1/35 Panther Ausf A

Nice work on the zimmerit... Little (or not so little) things like that will go a long way to dress up that old kit.

But just to show that I haven't been completely idle here is some updates on my Stug IV. I decided to try the hairspray to give a worn look to the paint job. The base is Tamiya desert yellow and the top coat is a very lightened desert yellow with some flat yellow added for a different tone.

That certainly gives a nice worn look!

J, your right, I haven't. My apologise. Done it now. Nice to see someone doing there own Zimm. What did you use.

No worries shiv, I am expecting people to just come and go as they have time given the time frame of this and all the other GB on going. I like what your doing with this, its an interesting look. can't wait to see more.

Stik- Thanks for the input. This is my second armor piece and I want to make it look as real as possible. It is a lot of work trying to put Zimmerit on your second tank ever.

Bish- I found some clay/paper stuff at a local craft store. When it dries it seems to be hard as a rock. I put a piece on some wax paper and then use a bakers rolling pin to thin it out. It's seems to be working fine. As for he tool I took an old Tamiya paint cap and cut a piece of it off then hot glued a spur to it to be able to roll it out a bit.

Hello everyone. Here is the progress of adding Zimm to the turret. In the first picture you will see my home made Zimm tool. I used part of an old Tamiya paint cap hot glued to a spur. Once the zimm is dry I will scrape off excess and put my base coat of paint on.
