Thanks Moff. Hard to tell without using it, but they look pretty detailed sets. They bear a striking resembalance to the Voyager sets. But i think thats a lot to do with the images on the website. Looks like you should be ok with those.

Both ET and Voyager made a PE set for the Maus, something that is rather difficult to find things to photoetch. Voyager gives you a bunch of little strips of PE, while E.T.'s comes with this nifty little ladder:   

Though to be honest, Voyager's set comes with more busyness on the it's PE areas. If I ever get the Maus, I'll just get both of those lol 

That is interesting, I've heard of ET Model but so far have no experience with them. 

Would also like to enter in my Italeri 1/48 P-51D/K Pacific Aces, it should be a quick build, construction looks pretty straight forward. And my Eduard 1/48 Bf 110G-4.

Moff, if you do get the maus, you might also consider the Eduard set, which also includes the ladder. That's the one I have for that kit. I think I am going to try and avoid Voyager from now on.

 

Eduard wins every time. I am considering getting the Maus (at some point) but I'm brainstorming ways to add some more busyness to the exterior...it's just so flat! Maybe some schurzen or bedspring armor? I don't see the usefulness in spaced armor like that on the Maus though. Maybe use the sides of the Maus as a giant propaganda board? 

The problem is, camo schemes just get so boring on a giant surface like that. "Christmas present" type stripes do look nice IMHO. 

I guess it lets you really mess around with weathering.

Anyways, this came in much quicker than expected, cant wait for the new year! Time to order paint

OMG Jay, what happened to your Panther it shrunk on you!!! Did you leave it in hot water or something like that!?! 

All joking aside this always seemed an odd duck to me, seems like the Luchs would make a better scout tank than a pygmy Panther. Pretty cool looking kit though. 

Alright Bish, I'll give in to your unrelenting pressure. I've opted to go all in on my first try at a ship model. I'll be building Trumpeter's 1/700 French Battleship Richilieu 1946 fit.

I've got the Flyhawk PE set and Master Model 15", 6" and 4" gun barrels for the kit ordered and in route. Although I'm quite excited to finally try my hand at a ship model, I'm also a bit apprehensive. I'll find out soon enough if tackling a battleship might be overly ambitious. Oh well, there's nothing but to "Give 'er hell Tex".

Ok Joe, got you added. And now we have a ship. I know what you mean about ship models. I would liek to get the Revell 350 Bismarck, but i plan on doing a few smaller scale ones first. I have a couple of Airfix 600 kits to break me in slowly. Its all that rigging that worries me most. Were the hell do you start on that.

Just having a look at the line up here and i must say its impressive, most impressive.

I know, differant GB. But there only a few weeks to go and i am getting excited.

Its all that rigging that worries me most. Were the hell do you start on that.

I found a review of a book of the Tirpitz, my favorite battleship by the way, which has some very comprehensive drawings of the rigging, including what looks like a list of names for each line. The book unfortunatly is mostly writen in Polish. The only laguage I understand is English and enough German to get me into very deep trouble.

Thanks Steve, i'll give that some thought. I still don't hav ethe Bismarck kit yet, but its been on the shopping list for a couple of years and i think i should get it soon.

Still mulling over which kit to do, but I know it will be an aircraft in RCN livery.  I was initially set on the Seafire, but seeing how the early versions of these Griffen engine birds were accident prone on carrier decks, I'm looking at the Hellcat, possibly something like this:
