Here it is with gloss coat and wash to highlight panel lines

Nope, can't get PB to work. I'll try later.

The shading and fading really works well on this model, what markings are those?

She's Ukrainian. I am in the process of trying a new photo sharing website. I sent you an email with my completed pix until I can get something sorted out.

I wonder what those "stringers" are under the mid fuselage, may be stiffners of sorts.

I made basically no progress today :-( I just painted the armour plate I had to put behind the left pilot's seat (there was a gaping hole that could be seen through the cabin opening) and painted the box that I assume to be the tool chest or something located just behind the cockpit.

Rob, do another one....you know you want to ;-)

I did half the "passed lining" on the right side of my 53's fuse last night , hope to get that done and the fuse closed up by this mid week.

Ha!! Yeah, I should but I don't have another helo in my very tiny stash. The LHS has a Havoc I'm somewhat interested in, but, it reviews poorly.

what kit havoc? I looked at the trumpeter one but not bought it yet.

I had also been looking (strangely enough) at the Italeri 1.72 Bell 47g of all things lol.

BUT I must first do the 53 !! ;-)

If you can get the Hobbyboss 1/72 MiL 24/35 , it is a great kit, I built is some years ago.

Not allot of progress but every bit helps.

Man the fit on thos kit is lacking! I wonder why they didn't just have 2 fuse halves instead of the 3 they have here.

I managed to wrangle the fuse together but I will have to do allot of filling and sanding on the bottom. Lucky for me I got a new re-scribing river tool so it should be OK.

I am starting to think my odea of folding the rotor and the tail was to optimistic for this kit, I am not sure all that work will add to the overall improvement of the final result. Maybe just build it and move on.

hard to tell that you are having some difficulty with the helo Theuns? Looks like it's going fine to me Yes

As for the Havoc, it's a blue boxed Revell Germany kit. I don't like how it reviews and it's a bit too pricey for a kit that may be a dud.

I have been looking for a 1/72 Helix from Trumpeter, it is a really nice kit. My store however only has the Hobbyboss Helix.

When I googled the reviews it seems that the HB one has a poor fitting front canopy.

I've done the HB Helix. EXCEPTIONAL kit. I had no issues with it. There are some delicate struts for the landing gear, but, it goes together very well. It's what got me into helo's last year.

OK, so the fit of the front clear bits to the fuse was not an issue then?

That makes it a posibility then :-)

(EDIT) Ah yes, I recall ow why I was so concerned about the kit, I was reading about the Zvesda Helix that had the issues

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been busy with another project that needs to be done by mid September.

But here is where I am at on the Huey. I am in the process of building up the armor seats for the pilots. Since this kit does not come with cabin seating, I will have to scratch build some.

Looking good B_one :-)

I also have a project deadline of mid sept of a large static display airplane I need to complete for a restaurant group. While I wait for parts to dry on that I work models lol

I got the 53's large sponsons made up only to find out that they cover the front side windows of the fuse. I did not see this on the plans so I need to sort it out and fill the windows from the inside of the closed up fuse....still no idea how I am going to make the roof section.

That would make sense. The HB kit was a real gem. I enjoyed that build.

Hi Theuns,

Great work on the MIL Rob, that shading really enhances it. The interior of yours is coming along well too Theuns.

I've decided that would rather build a Huey than the Lynx. Would you mind changing it please. I've got three in the stash, but will commit to one for now.

This is the kit, I'm starting it today. I'' probably make an Aussie one, but I don't like the half starved Roo in the kit decals, so will replace them.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

No worries, I will gladly change it for you :-)

I built the 1/72 italeri UH1b and it is a reallt nice little kit. IIRC all I had to add were the yaw peddals.

It wil be nice to see a "Roo Huey"

I hope to get to my models within the next week or two after the deadline for the display model I am working on for the restaurant group.

Thanks Theuns, appreciate it.

Here is where I've got to so far. Just basic cleaning up and some colour on the interior. I builts acouple of helos as a kid, but that was the late 70s. From memory they were the Airfix Westland Scout and a 1/48 Fujimi Alloute III in Danish colours. I haven't touched one since, so I'm just building this one without much modofication to get a 'feel' for it again.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

I have been able to make up the roof section, its like building a boat in a bottle!

Now I need to figure out how I am going to glue it in place....

Well I started the Hughes 500, so count me in, lol.  Probably won't take me very long to get it done.  She's tiny.  I think I'm going to go with a camo paint job too.  I'll post some pics later on.
