I'm pretty stoked about it.

Excellent work everybody, I started my Panzer III Ausf. N a few days ago. It builds up very similar to the StuG III Ausf G I built awhile back. Have most of the bath tube or lower hull parts attached.  Got to love those wheels. Wink

Very nice, Dan.  It's got a lot of sharp detail; moldings look very crisp.

Thanks Checkmateking,  yes very clean and crisp molding.  I can only find a very tiny amount of flash.  Kit contains 851 parts, 757 pars for this verison of the Ausf. N Wink.  I plan to use Model Master Enamel Afrika Grunbrau '41 #2099 as the base color. Smile

That's a hefty parts count.  Some of them must be tiny-tiny.

I forgot about the individual track links around these days.  I haven't built a tank since they were made of rubbery plastic.

Looks good, tj.  A three-color scheme is something I haven't seen much.  Very effective.

Thanks Bish.

Nice camouflage pattern there Johnny.

Yes many tiny parts. The individual tracks really get the part count up about 228, 98 per side with plenty of extras.

With the main sections layed out just like the StuG III and Panzer IV, assembly has been fast. This smart kit has some nice a tight fits, the only putty I used was a small gap in between the turret square base and the rear part that has the exhaust vents.  I glued up the tracks before attaching on the side parts, to make it easier.

Not sure where this photo-etch goes, the instructions are not clear. Might go on top of the add-on armor on the front.

Looking very good, Dan.  But that photo of all the track links is intimidating to look at.

Thanks checkmateking: Yeah gluing those tank links together takes up a good amount of time, but the more you do it the faster it goes.

Thanks Bish.

I'm setting a personal best with this Panzer III, only eight days of construction. Upper and lower hull's are finished.  Just glue and go. Smile This kit has been a big motivation boost. A little filler will be need on the turret where the bottom ring meets the top half.

That looks very effective, tj.  How did you apply it?

painted the regular camo first then gloss coat then went over with a very light coat of white and a dirty white basically added a little beige to it.  Lightly sanding to bring out under color. Will also add streaks of the under color

So I take it you applied the white coats with an airbrush?

yes. I was debating whether to try with a wide brush. I just didn't think I could pull it off

Don't think I could either.  Tried a white overcoat on a Bf 109 flown by Erich Hartmann.  Didn't turn out so well.  Going to give it another go sometime in the future.

I like your technique, tj.

I think for the type of white wash you have gone for, airbrushing was the best option.
