Weekend GB 2017-Closed for the season

I'm going to do Eduard's 1/48 F6F-3 Fighter Weekend Edition.  It seems appropriate.

Not all kits are created equal. I have kits with only 4 parts  that come pre-painted.

Just so I dont get shot for cheeting I decided to let you guys decide what I build. 

FIRST: 1/87 scale wood and metal kit.

 It comes pre-painted but I will have to do some serious touch up and weathering. It's yellow so I figured that would  make it a little more diffacult.

SECOND: 1/87 scale pick-up.

Cons.... very small with about 30 parts.

THIRD: A plane 1/72 scale. I know nothing about this plane and I havent built a plane in forever.

Forth: Another plane... but I know a bit about these.

Being a currently frustrated N-scaler I'm tempted to vote for the reefer just to see what you can do with weathering it. But that French plane is awful pretty though.

 Thats what I was thinking of. It's out of my "comfort range" and the camoflage would take me a minute to figure out.

I'd go with the Testers

The French camo is easy: green, a blue gray, and brown on top, light blue gray lowers. Model Master did make the French colors...

That would be the easyist of the bunch. I might actually finish that one in 48 hours. And I already have those colors on the workbench.....

The reason I joind this group build was to challenge myself and finish in 48 hours. The caudron is out of the ordinary for me so its the kit (of the four) that I felt would meet that criteria. But I still think you guys should pick the kit....  Just trying to be fair.

Lets face it, if I do the pick-up I'll be done in 4 hours.

In 1/72 I think it's possible. It all depends on your painting... It is not a large kit so depending upon if you hand brush or airbrush... there are your time killers... lots of planning and preparation can speed you thru this.... that old F4U is also about a 4 hour build (at most) plus painting...

but if you're worried, don't push it... These weekend madness GBs are as much about the fun of a speed build, as opposed to all the things we usually  obsess over...

Ok. Caudron it is. ( I'll keep the other three there to work on while I wait on paint to dry.)

Who knows..... I might actually finish/ smash more than one.

When I seen this my first thought was that it was a model of a roadside billboard advertising reefer. I guess y'all know wher my mind is!

I knew there was a reason to wake up this month.  I felt the Weekend Madness Build slowly creeping up on me and gently tickling my ego.  Time to organize the bench and paint room.  Time to peruse the stash and weigh my chances.  Time to make the list of supplies I will need and stock up on the coffee.

More importantly, I need a new photo sharing site.  Like most of us, getting stung by Photobucket causes a real issue.  What do you fellow modellers use?  I was going to wait it out and see if there was a general concensus on the "new site" to use, but with this build just around the corner I had better choose one and get familiar with it.

Count me in Lewbud and thanks for hosting this great build once again.  I will pick out a kit a little closer to the start date.  With the local show and swap meet a mere few weeks away anything is possible at this point.

Four engines huh?   Hmmmmmmmmmmm.........................

I've been using Flickr. Seems to work well. I'll paste in the process to post the images.

Tim, I feel your pain about finding a hosting site.  I have a Fotki site which I got when I first joined here many moons ago. I couldn't make it work then, but it's easy to use now.  I reupped my subscription for the year (it's free until you reach a certain limit) after the photobucket debacle, but can't get the app to work on my phone (it's my only access at the moment, unless I get to the library).  I've got a Flickr account, but all I can post is the link, haven't figured out how to post the actual pic.

Roster is updated.

I use Postimage and that works simple enough for me... and it's free so far...

Doesn't work on Android either, at least I couldn't get it to work.  You can share, but you can't post from the app.

I have been using Postimage too. Works great on my PC or my iPhone.

I use Imgur. It is free and easy to use. Once you sign up and have your pic uploaded, just click on the pic and when it comes up, click "Copy" on the BBCode bar. The comn here and in paste it in your post Easy peasy.

Lewbud, would one of the new Bandai Star Wars kits be acceptable? Some modelers may look down on them because of their "snap together" buildability, but they really are excellent kits. If they are okay, then I'm in. 

Lewbud, thanks for letting me be part of the fun. Looked throught the small stash and saw a Eduard "weekend edition" like Mr.Stecks. It's a Bf 110 with 340 parts..."weekend edition" is a lie! I will be doing an old Hasegawa Nakajima Ki 27 Nate in 1/48th.

I thought of doing the Santa Maria, since I built the Pinta in my first year participating in this GB, then I remembered, that was when I used to drink.  Now that I quite drinking, and have gotten older, I am not that crazy to try to build a sailing ship in 48 hours.

I didn't know how to answer you when you posted, and still don't other than to say thank you for feeling comfortable enough here to share your troubles with us and wish you luck in the future with them.  Craziness is basically what this build is about.  How many people look at what is a simple concept: start and finish a model within 48 hours, as crazy?  Perhaps the reasons you listed for not building the Santa Maria are the very reasons you should? Whatever you decide, we will watch with interest.

Ok, I've given this much thought and I'm going to build the 1/35 Dragon Vorpanzer!  J/K!  Setting the bar a bit lower, I've decided to build the 1/48 Tamiya Fw-190 F8.  The Tamiya 190 goes together quite well so I don't think I'll have any problems building and painting it in two days!
