Thank you both. Love to detail cockpits.

John, any advice abt the landing gear. The front ones do look very spindly? Need to replace them with something? Will they fail at some point? Especially if I have to move them around?

Mine are holding up fine, just be sure you get the gear aligned properly and let the glue harden up real good before putting any weight on them.  The nose gear is fine, it's the mains that are the issue, especially as they angle forward so much.

Cbaltrin: Wow that looks astounding! That work on the instrument panel is insane, it's got to be what- the size of a dime!?!

Oh, less than a dime! Wink All I did to the IP was paint it black and dry brush silver and add the kit supplied IP decal with Tamiya Decal solvent (mark soft?).

Oh wow that still looks great though! Love how the washes (I'm assuming) picked out the cockpit detailing. It's a friggin' shame to cover all that up.

BTW: I ordered a pound of Silly Putty. Hopefully it will be enough to mask off the O-I.....

Thanks, I actually used Tamiya Smoke for the wash, with a bit on thinner and retarder thrown in.

I am thinking about some what-if markings for my ki-61...

That would make a great looking 61. Go for it.

The cockpit looks great, Chris!  The Tamiya Warbird series 1/72 kits are a lot of fun.

Thanks John, Did not realized Tamiya did 'Series' -- I thought that was a Hasegawa thing :-)

Those little side console levers, each painted a different color, in 1/72! You my friend have some steady hands.

I may have steady hands (still) but it's really not that hard considering that box with the levers on it is a separate piece. Just need an optivisor and a small brush or toothpick.

A lot of folks finally getting their roots back down and building again. Great to see some work flowing from your bench again. Looking forward to it all.

After doing some research I figured Tamiya  XF-76 was the color... looks way too green so I'll have to do something like an IJN grey over it.  Cowl is the right color from Mr Color.  Grrr...

Thanks,

John

I've thought some of the Tamiya colours look really off.

Great work there and nice correction!
