MONOGRAM MAFIA II GB
Posted by Hans von Hammer on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 1:37 AM

Here it is...

The official start is NOW, 1 Feb 12 and end date is gonna be six months from your (1st kit) start date, with an absolute stoppage of work on 31 JAN 13.  You'll get time, but there WILL be some "pressure" to complete in a timely manner... You gotta perform, ya know.. Ths ain't no regular Model Club...

All kits are eligible, as long as they were first released in the 20th Century .. DON'T bring anything from 1 JAN 2001 or later... Just fuggeddaboudit..

EDIT 9 FEB 12 1415S: More details...

Crossovers OK, but must not be more than 50% assembled, regardless of whether they come from another GB, or they're just one you've had just lying around...( Note that word, "assembled".. In the past, some have taken 50% to mean that it's built ,more or less, and ready for paint, with the finish and decaling making up the other 50%.. Ain't so here... 50% means that about half the parts are still in the box..)  We'll call paint, weathering, and decals the 10% of the theoretical "110%"... Only thing that counts is, "Finito!" or some variation of that after your name in the roster..

WIP-kits are ok too, but see the above for percentages..  50% assembled is the limit to ship over...

You mugs got Six (6) months from the start-date of your initial kit. If you're building more than one, then you best quit reading the forums and get freakin' BUSY!

OK... *sigh* The above comment is a joke... ('Cept the part about the start-date.)

If you need more time, quit your job... Or do a couple "side-by-side builds"...Wink

The above comment was a joke... Again...

Sorta...

ANYway... You get 90 days added for each additional kit. HOWEVER: Maximum time for completion of all builds is ONE YEAR from the Thread's start-date. Time's up at 31 JAN 2400S 2013 (That's Midnight Central Time on 1-31-13  for you folks in Rio Linda, CA) Extensions may be granted on a case-by-case basis (Note use of the word, "may"... Don't automatically take it to mean "will".)...

Requests for more time to complete a build will come no earlier than 30 days  from your end-date, and no later than 3 days from same. Absolute, drop-dead end time will be enforced though, and it's non-negotiable... But you might try pleading for lieniency and begging for mercy... I doubt it'll come to that though..

Diorama-builders will get more time. HOWEVER.. It's six months from the kit's start-date to complete the first, initial kit, and six months to complete the diorama...  But it's not gonna be easy.. See below..

Pay Attention here now..  This part is for REAL dio-players only...   If the diorama contains more than one Monogram, Revell, Hawk, etc. kit, those kits all count as ONE build...  For instance... If you build say, the 1/48 Revell P-51D and Monogram  1/48 P-51B, and then they're part of the same diorama, that's ONE build.   And, by the way.. Building the 1/48 B-24 and then tow tractor counts as a single build, as does the B-17G and its bomb-trailer.. (Don't even try to pull that one on me and I KNOW one o' youse mugs was thinkin' it, P-38....)Cool

One Kit= "Giovane D'Honore "-An... associate...

Two Kits= "Sgarrista"-a "Made" Monofioso, a sergeant... Defends ALL classic kits in the forums, but the focus is primarily on "Revellogram" kits. But "Defend to "Befriend".. We want MORE Monogram kit-builders, not fewer, and thusly, we create more Gizmologists...

Three Kits= "Caporegime"-a lieutentant, and responsible for "slapping down" any  "Monogram-ists" in the forums... Politely... Whistling

Four Kits= Capodecima- Heads up a "Crew" of Sgarrista and Giovane D'Honore...

Five or More, OR Two Multi-kit Dioramas= CONSIGLIERE- Meaning that initially, for a probationary period of time, you're an advisor to the Don.. THEN... Once it's known that you've got the stones--And the skills- Then YOU may start your own "Family" and become a "Capo de Tutti Capi" (A Don, the Boss of bosses, ) yourself...  A special "Badge of Honor" (Stemma di Onore) awaits those who succeed...

If anyone's confused by the stuff above, don't sweat it... Just crack open the cement, and open the box already... I got new pain meds today and they ain't half bad when ya wash 'em down with a Nyquilada...

Sorry man... Got the Ventura too...

This is about the "Classics"...  It's meant to show that the oldies are still goodies...  I'd prefer that folks build at least one Monogram kit, but any of the old ones will do, especially discontinued and OOP kits from defunct manufacturers...

Like, I've got a Glencoe J2M Duck,  AMT F7F-2 Tigercat, A-20 Havoc, HAWK T-33, P-51D, and others of that era, to go along with the Monogram and Revell stuff....

Are we looking at 6 months or longer for the timeline boss? And are crossovers allowed? I see its not just Monogram, but also Hawk, Revell, etc...

Crossovers OK, but the timeline is gonna be six months for a single kit, and add three months for each additional kit...  Puts pressure on ya, I know.. But ya gotta perform for the "higher" badge...

Alright Hans. I've finally made my decision. I'm gonna join. I just don't know what I'm going to build yet. Don't have any Monogram kits in the stash so I'll have to make a trip to Michael's with a 40% coupon.Big Smile

I'm going to have to dig out that Monogram StuG IV again. The GB kinda died on the vine and I moved onto the Tanks on Wheels GB, but I will still participate in this one. It'll give me a reason to polish off this little kit that has languished in my stash for over 15 years.

I have 3 kits that I`ve started awhile back...an Me-109, a P-38J and an F-9FPanther that I`m thinking about adding to the roster. All 3 are less than 50% complete and this will give me the incentive to finish them up..maybe...Big Smile Whaddaya think there Boss?

At less than 50% for all three?  Ok.. But I'll give ya credit for two, unless they're tough builds.. TM.. You're already made.. You get to work harder..

Here`s my "crew"...

The 3 half wits..

...and the 2 "new guys"..

The lightning and Panther are both good kits but I had problems...prolly due to myself...Big Smile The 109 is great, so far, and I don`t foresee a problem. Anyways...that`s what I`m dealin` with...lol.

Here is my first choice. Originally a 1970 vintage Monogram kit, I picked up the 1993 dated re issue off of e-bay several years back. A 1/32 Apollo Command and Service Module kit.

Yeah, back in the day I built oodles of the Revell 1/96 space kits, Apollo11, Apollo Soyuz, etc. but never one of these big ones. The Rockwell and Douglas plants that built many of these items were nearby and lots of the folks around here growing up worked on the NASA Space programs. It was so much a part of life here.  As a young boy, I got to see Jim Lovell speak at a local school after the Apollo 13 mission.
