Cant' wait for this to start! My decals should come any day, but I've been wondering on the Cuban Mig Camo for this bird, 668:

I've been looking at the decal instructions online and they are pretty vague, only listing generic FS numbers that have no real associated names to the colors:

But I can barely tell that it is a 5 color camo job. The topside appear to be 2 greens-medium green and a dark green. But what Dark green would work? RAF Dark green close? RLM 83? And then 2 Browns-RedBrown? and a sand color? What sand color? Dark earth close? RLM 79 close? Anyone have suggestions or knowledge in this area? I'm using Gunze paints but can sure cross ref from other brands that might have colors specific to this sheme.

In the Gunze line up these would be my suggestions:RAF Dark Green, RAF Dark Earth, & Mahogany. Not sure about the lighter green, perhaps the JGSDAF Dark green might work, but it does appear a bit too light from that photo. Hard to say for certain. As for the bottom blue, If Gunze doesn't have a light blue that will work, Tamiya has a nice bright sky blue shade that should work.

Hey, Mahogany, good suggestion Stik. I've got the blue covered. Gunze H323 with some RLM 65 mixed in. in the decal sheet it shows the nose cone covered up, but in this still vid shot I took, it seems the nose cone is unconventionally painted white, or light gray?? I've only seen mig nose cones in light and bright greens...other pics of cuban migs show green as well.

Thanks for re-kickstarting this one Stik, as much as I love a great FW190, I really love seeing some of the lesser-known machines built up.

Thanks Vance. I'll have to check that out. All I find online are general reviews, none where people actually used them on a model.

Yes, I used them on my Mirage IIIEA for the Falklands/Mavinas GB. Excellent decals! You will not be disappointed and you sure get your money's worth from those sheets.

Well when this idea was first floated, I could not say no. It is my pleasure to host this. The subject range is simply awesome, from P-26s to F-16s are possible, not countng "what if's?" Definitely not a came of same old/same old here.

That is STILL a great-looking Mirage.

One if my options is actually the second kit I bought for the Falklands build, but ran out if time for, the Argentine Pucara. Also have a Dassault Ouragan that could end up with SA markings, and I think I have another option...

probably going to pass on thid\s one.since i don't dp planes (ignoring the 70+ in my stash) and having a DREADNOUGHT or 2 for WW1 GB next year plus all the others. HOWEVER if the germans followed through on the zimmerman telegraph and supported a mexican attack on the US i could do a revel 1/48 DVII in mexican markings

Wayne, "what if" builds are allowed. So that Mexican Fokker is more than welcome.
