OK Mustang, Lil' Joe's Starfighter has been added to the front page, and we are now officially done here. I thank one and all for your participation in this GB and helping to make it such a success on short notice. You are all truly Madmen- even lil' Joe.

These proceedings are now closed.

Oh now that looks cool! I still prefer my 1970s vintage X-wings and Y-wings, but that is a sharp looking star fighter. I am glad to have had this last entry here. I will get page one updated with this build tomorrow from my home computer.

Thanks Lewbud! Right now lil' Joe is outside playing so I'm going to post the feature pics and edit it in a little while to have him say a word or two. Thanks everybody from big Joe for allowing lil' Joe to come in here and strut his stuff!

Thanks stik and thanks for taking us in man. For right now keeping his attention span going long enough to complete it was the true challenge but he proved he was up for it. It's just as much a lesson in meeting a deadline and being committed to finishing something as it is being in a GB and building a model kit. Will post the feature photos pretty quick and let Joseph have a little say so then.

Well we're back today to finish up! Joseph had a sleepover last night so that marked the end of any progress this morning but we're hot on the heels of getting it done today!Big Smile.

Today he is beginning by installing the L/H wing he built yesterday onto the fuselage assy:

another good "snap" and it's in place!!

Thanks stik! Ol' Joseph's a pretty smart kid and figures alot of stuff out on his own. Next he turned his attention to the wings:

cutting the parts from the sprues:

basic parts layout for each wing!

and assembling the L/H wing assy:

more pics tomorrow. We'll wrap er up by the end of the day. Attention span for today has ended!Indifferent

You've got that right and it's hard not to jump in and do some of it for him when I see him having trouble. Check out the last post in the Carrier GB there stik!!

Cool! Having all the parts pre painted is a nice speed advantage.

Okee dokee fellas. We got started right after his post earlier and started out by assembling the cockpit. This was all prepainted but he did ALL  of the construction. Some of the fit was pretty poor but its a Snap Tite kit and you have to allow. First off here's pic of the completed cockpit. He needed a small bit of help here due to the tiny control stick being really figdety to get into place but we got it done!

That being done we moved on to the fuselage assy and powerplants(which were two pieces each). it was at this point that he installed the canopy glass and cockpit into the upper fuselage shown here.

Hey guys. I know we haven't posted since lil' Joseph wanted to take a weekend madness GB on a few weeks back but its been one thing after another. We had his school science project to do and he was sick this weekend so I'm glad we have a final weekend to do this. I'll get him together and geared up for the weekend!

Well the Firecat is finally done.  Went ahead and mounted the slurry tank so she's a tailsitter now.  Will post pics tomorrow.  I'm always amazed at how much life even a few decals can add to a model.

Yes, I bet that did add some challenge. Well the 15th is almost over, and when it is, I will call this one finished. I look forward to next years edition.

Yes, Autumn is also known as Fall here. IIRC, this GB was originally done in around Veterans Day/Armistace Day weekend. But seeing how this one was sort of thrown together at the last moment it was a bit after that. Next year, I will work on getting it back to the original timing.

Good on you for making it happen no matter what the timing.

I am glad to know that I could defer to another weekend.   This way I don't have to do it on a work weekend next time.  Added an element of additional challenge though......

No worries my friend. I understand completely. I will run this again next Fall, so I do hope you can partake then.

Fall, that's US for Autumn, right Wink. I am defiantly easing back on entering GB's, (he says), I will make sure I keep a spot open for it.

Ooooh!!  I see that round three seems to be done!!  Big Smile

Wayne - never heard of ZHENGDEFU, but I like what you did with that little T-72!! Glad to see you overcame the problems and finished it up!  And with a base no less!

Shiv - NICE little Peashooter!  LOVE those colors and markings!  The rigging looks great, I'm glad you had time to do them!  Congrats!

Lew - Way to bang out that P-51!  Kudos for a quick, super build!  BTW, I really like how the cellphone time is in almost each update pic....I'm going to steal that idea and do that next year!

gunner_chris - yeah, weathering is an artform in itself!  It takes time, patience and a lot of practice to get it right (whatever "right" is).  One of the things many of us have learned when weathering is -  if you think it needs more, it probably doesn't!!   Keep at it and don't give up!

Stikpusher - Thanks SOO MUCH for hosting this years Weekend Madness GB! Bow Down  I almost thought it wasn't going to happen, and then you posted the invite and I jumped for joy!  This was my third straight year:  I didn't finish in time in 2011, in 2012 I didn't finish the 1st build on time, BUT managed to finish the 2nd build (just BARELY!), and this year I nailed it on the first attempt!!  I'm already planning next year's 1/35 armor kit....maybe two!!  Hope we're all back next year for Weekend Madness 2014!

Stik, I am going to have to drop out of this. I really thought my other two builds would have been done by now, and what with those and other things going on this weekend, I just can't add another to the bench.

But hopefully there will be another next year and I will have more time and less GB's. In which case I will be in, hopefully with something a bit more challenging than the Droid Fighters.
