Ah Chuck, I can see it if you're trying to keep everything the same scale but size wise the M8 is pretty small in 1/35th- I can hold one in my hand without much hanging over.

And that Columbian scheme would be much easier to mask and paint in the larger scale...

Chuck, seems I've called in some artillery fire on your position. You may want to move.

Yes.  It used to be throw some HEAT at them...now its throw some PEER at them.

That's OK - there's still time to shrug off the pressure to go large or go home.  In the meantime, I'll duck and cover.

If it's helpful, I'm pretty sure your chance of surviving a bombardment like this is better in a larger vehicle, say 1/35 scale.Propeller

Klik, if you are looking for a 1/35 M48 I have the Tamiya kit, new in box.  PM me if interested.

Not sure how to PM (sorry). Which Tamiya M48 kit is it? Since this GB doesn't start of a while, I'm in no rush ( plus, I've got a backlog of kits to finish first). Klik

Tamiya only does one M48, an M48A3 that was released in the early 80s or late 70s.

Hi Klik,

I just called Greenfield News and Hobby, a local store in our area. They have a Dragon 1/35 scale M48A3 Mod. B in stock. If you want, give them a call (414-281-1800) and ask for Gary. He'll get you hooked up. I know they'll ship to you if you aren't local to Milwaukee.

Don't worry Chuck, my little 1/72 will be there to help you. We can both hide in the same crack in the wall.Toast

I'm sorry I've been away for a bit with a family illness, but getting back to my build of the King Tiger at Gereonsweiler, Germany, the 43 second video of the captured tank shows men from Company B, 129th Ordinance Maintenance Battalion of the 7th Armored Division using a wrecker hooked up to the turret. I think I've identified the wrecker as a Ward LaFrance M1A1so I've been trying to find this wrecker to complete an accurate Dio from the video but I think I'm beating my head against the wall trying to find one in 1/35. Accurate Armor did make on but there running about $300 US if you can even find one. Any help would be appreciated to find one in the right scale but I think I'm out of luck, it would have made a nice piece.

Looks like this needs more modern stuff. Would anything in UN or IFOR qualify? If not i have a 1/35 trumpeter german FENNIK 4x4 recon vehicle in dutch markings or a BM-21 in ukraine markings

Wayne,
I can see the BM-21 working, but the Fennek was built jointly by German and Dutch companies for German and Dutch service so it doesn't qualify. I'll sign you up for the BM-21 is that works for you?
Cheers, Aaron

Hi Wayne,

Sorry for the mix-up this weekend regarding your posts. Glad you came back and re-posted here.

It would be great to have you along for the ride!

After a conference with Aaron, the BM-21 Grad would work, but might I suggest a bit more separation from Russia. A number of other countries have used the weapon system. We found some cool pics for Peruvian service, but there are many out there.

Hi Wayne,

Here's an image of one in tan.

Here are a couple in green

Here's one in Libya that's been worked over. A more complex camo but cool markings.

Here's another in a cool camo scheme

The Finns used them too, but I haven't been able to pull up an image of one. I did find a video of a test launch though.

Hi tim Amazing. I spent a couple of hours searching yesterday and found all sorts of pics and all sorts of patterns but never saw these pics. I do have camo patterns of various armor from various countries. I could assume a tank pattern, colors and basic style, would be used on artillery. Plenty of time to decide. Thanks. The libyan one would certainly allow me to take my washes and powders to the next level. I will study that picture and pull out my THE WEATHERING MAGAZINEs

OK, Wayne. I'll put you down for a BM-21 Grad, scale, maker, and markings TBD.

Judging from the skill level of the participants i'll have to put on my big boy pants for this build. TRUMPETER 1/35 TBD on markings but probably the libyan camo and markings from the picture.

All right, we've got you down for the Trumpeter kit.

Hah! You realize you're one of those high-skill-level participants, right? I seem to recall a BDRM-2 in an FSM online extra ...

Tim/Aaron - Being the paranoid type, I can get all the parts I need for an Israeli half-track up gunned with a French 90mm AT.  Since the track came from the US or GB, I assume that fits in as an orphan, yes?  If yes, I will proceed with an order and officially switch my build.  Thanks guys!

P-Mitch- I was looking at some back issues of FSM and in the September 1991 issue is an article for building a Hotchkiss H-39 in german markings. Don't know if you have seen it or not but thought I would give a heads up.

Chuck, I think that fits. Let me know the details and we'll change your listing.

Thanks for the heads up I'll have a dig and see if I can find it.

I did pick up another project last week, the new Vulcan models British Light Tank MK VI which I'm planning to do as a freshly captured tank with Italian flag added. Don't want it in the GB as I have one in already, but I may post pictures. Its another tiny thing, again no longer than 4 inches

Okay guys - I'm officially changing my entry to a half-track converted with a Daimler armored car turret.  I have the kits on their way.  Here's a photo of my chosen subject from Israeli Half-tracks Vol. One by Tom Gannon:

It should be a fun build - lots to do, and not a lot left of the poor half-track after I'm done...one way or another. Stick out tongue

Thanks!

Oooops - sorry.  Both the half-track and Daimler are 1/72 Hasegawa.  Embarrassed

It's a standard "home-grown" design that they used on a number of their improvised/converted armor, including the M2 Scout Car that I had originally intended to build.  I think it's interesting that the little turret has an MG34 mounted.  Quite the eclectic set-up.

The israelis had a lot of czech MG-42s in the '48 war. I have a jeep and a BREN carrier and a set of german machine guns in the stash for a future build when i get in an IDF phase again.
