I've done a little more work on the X-Wing.

The engine faces each have 4 ejector pin marks inside them!  And they are in a relatively recessed area so they were difficult to get to...but I did.

Here's a shot of the faces.  The one on the right still has the pin marks and the one on the left has been sanded smooth:

Here are all four sanded smooth:

How did you sand? Im thinking sandpaper and double stick tape on a dowel or cheap modified electric toothbrush.

That's pretty much exactly what I did except instead of using a dowel rod I used straight pieces sprue and instead of double sided tape I used CA glue.  As I wore down the sanding paper I just snipped off the tip of the sprue and glued a new piece on.

Here's another quick update.  This kit is pretty old.  The date on the instruction sheet says 1989 so its probably seen a few summers in somebody's garage (I just got it from eBay about a day before this GB started).  As a result some of the parts are a bit warped.  The s-foils were especially bad.  So I boiled up a pot of water and gently bent the parts back to their original shape.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take a before pic but here's how they look now:

That is awesome Kafziel!  I didn't even know that kit existed...I may have to hunt the internet to find one, and not let my wife find out about it

Damn, I have wanted one of these ever since I first saw the movie. Well, at least now I know what to look for.

It's not just the APC.  Halcyon made a Dropship, a Power Loader, a couple of Aliens, the Narcissus shuttle and one or two other things.  Be prepared to spend some $ though.

When were they released. I seem to recall seeing some kits of these many years ago, but I never got round to getting any. The dropship is another one I wanted but never got.

I think it's from '87. They usually go for upwards of $100 but I got a great deal so I had to go for it. Definitely going to take my time on this one.

I'll have to keep my eyes out for those kits, thanks for brining them back to my attention, and I will be interested to see how yours builds up.

Wayne,  I'd like to join in on this GB if that is ok.  I'll try my hand at the Moebius Battlestar Galactica kit.

I have some aftermarket PE and decals for the kit, and I plan to try lighting some of the kit.

Big congrads on snagging the Aliens APC Kafziel! I guy in our club built one, it was a kinda crude kit but built up into a beautiful replica. I think his biggest problem with the kit was yes- just getting ahold of it!

You might have to twist my arm, but I could jump on in with a BSG Viper II, in a custom scheme, of course.

Although, I've got to clear my bench first.

hey gamera

i snagged your POLAR LIGHTS D-7 tlhIngan may'Duj at my col spgs club auction tonight. not sue how i'm going to do it but, since i gave permission to do alternate stuff, may turn it into a klingon "coast guard" vessel with international orange stripping.

got that and a 3d dolphin coast guard helo for a buck. spare parts and practice.

Wayne: Very cool!

Not sure the Klingons would have a Coast Guard- I figure they'd be more like 'you got yourself in this mess, get yourself out- or die...' Stick out tongue

Still the movie version Stikpusher is building was in both Enterprise and Deep Space Nine so you've got a service life of 200 or so years! Indifferent No problem of assuming that maybe the TV version was around for a pretty long time and used in a plethora of different roles!

My kit is almost assembled, some sloppy seams that require a bunch of putty but otherwise a nicely engineered kit. Now I need a translation for 'FEARLESS SLAYER OF TRIBBLES'...

closest i could come to the klingon  transliterated into from english  is BRAVE TRIBBLE KILLERS or

Sub ylH HoHwI'mey.

as soon as i find a decent klingon alphabet graphic i can download, i will have have the klingon characters. then it's creating a single .jpg for each character. after that cut and past into klingon.  will take a few days unless someone has already created a .jpg alphabet of good graphic quality.

I've never done a group build before, but I'd like to. Please count me in! Gonna build the fine molds falcon. I know it's been done a hundred times, but I've never done one. So here goes.

Wayne: Lol, I was joking there! Still I might put Sub ylH HoHwI'mey on the base! The only markings I've ever seen on the D-7 is the insignia and the TCS (how it looks to me in English) above the engine nacelles.

Senormodeler: Welcome aboard! And that's a beautiful kit, never built one myself but the ones I've seen at shows were amazing!

Nice!  I've got one of these in my stash.  I also have one of the AMT/ERTL Falcons in the stash, too.  I'm gonna use the AMT Falcon to practice the painting and weathering before I build my expensive Fine Molds Falcon.

Looking forward to seeing yours!
