The Tigercat was the right aircraft at the wrong time. Too late to for WWII, and in Korea it was a niche job aircraft. But nevertheless an impressive machine

Somehow the Grumman company survived.

Round about that same time the Brits were working on the Sea Hornet, and then there were the tests about how to get big heavy fighters on and off carriers without wandering into the islands.

Id suspect a big problem with the F7F being accepted was the  F9F

From what I have read, it had problems with Carrier quals. And the only carriers that could carry it were the three Midway class. It never would have been fleet wide in all Carrier Air Wings. Grumman was also producing the F6F-5 and the F8F at the same time. As well as bringing the F9F from development to service. Not bad at all.

I'll jump into this one for sure! Haven't built anything for about a year because of a move to another town and I just got the bench set for building.

What better way to christen the new location than with a Monogram kit!

Oh brother, dont mention the checkers.   You did not see them up close. Tamiya tape really let me down--maybe my tape is old. Anyway they are so messy they could pass for the real thing!

If he does, I've got my two kits picked out. Decals for the second kit should arrive on Friday.
