2015 Messerschmitt Bf109 Group Build(Change coming-Read last post)
Posted by mustang1989 on Saturday, November 15, 2014 7:27 AM

Ok folks we're here for another great Bf109 Group Build for 2015. It's been 3 years since the start of the last one that was hosted by pzl66. I had such a good time in that one and just as good of a time hosting the Butcher Bird Group build that I decided to get a 109 Group Build together for the start of next year. The build will start on 01 January 2015 and run until 02 January 2016. One important note: There will be no extensions for this Group Build. I did allow for that this last year on the 190 GB for 6 months due to all the fantastic participation and by request from several individuals but it even went past that extension so it's one year for this GB and it'll close it out.

The rules are really simple and are my standard "run of the mill" rule set.

They are as follows:

    1) Any scale, any Bf109 variant to include the 109Z.

     2) Any aftermarket items or no aftermarket items.

     3) Crossovers are welcome.

     4) Started builds are fine but please limit construction at the fuselage halves glued together.

     5) You can enter any time within the group build time frame.

     6) Please post pictures of works in progress.

     7) Be social, encouraging and have fun.

With that we are set to have a good year of 109 builds. I am really looking forward to seeing what builds are brought to the table this go round. As far as group build badges , we have two to chose from that were created by Bish and jgeratic. Thank you both for your help with this.

Let's have a good time..............shall we.

Ok, to get the ball rolling, here are some pics of the builds I will be doing. First up will be the HPH 1/18th bf 109G DB 605 engine.

And here is a couple of pics of the contents. 2 large bags of resin parts which look very nice. And a CD with the instructions on.

And from top left, a small decal sheet with markings for serial numbers and a nice PE nameplate. A small PE fret. A selection of wire and shrinkable rubber and finally a small Belgian Chocolate which I will be saving until the end.

There is also a stand which had to be purchased separately but is pretty essential, though I don't have a pic of that.

And for those who may be wondering how big it is, here is the spinner next to a 32nd 109 spinner.

And for a second build I will be doing my first ever 32nd aircraft. Hasegawa's Bf 109F-4/Trop.

Roll on 2015.

No flies on this call sign. I am itching to do that engine. I am even going to break my rule of one build at a time. I plan on staring it on day one and spending 1 or 2 nights a week on the engine while doing other builds.

Bish, that engine is going to be one eye catching display piece, and I also look forward to your tackling of  Hasegawa's 1/32 kit.

---------------------------------------

I haven't decided on my exact kit yet, (either Airfix or Eduard), but it definitely will be a 1/48 scale E-4 during the Battle of Britain time frame.  It is a project I wanted to do for a few years now, as a dog fight double to the Spitfire Mk.I built in 2012.

It should look something like this, barring any further research changes;

regards,

Jack

I just picked up the 1/32 Revell BF109 G-6 for $30 and the Tamiya 1/48 E-3 for $20 at my local shop. I just can't deal with a supercharger intake that's not round. Should be interesting and I'm not sure which to start first. Gotta finish this U-boat by January!

I'm still in for the Eduard 1/32 BF109E from the limited edition Balkan set. I only have three GB's to finish before the end of the year so this should be a nice start to next year!

I'm in. Sooo in. Super in. I'm sure I'll be building a 1/48 scale, but kit manufacturer and version are TBD.

Ooh, it's finally up! Nice to see this GB being completely official now!

My projects are going to be two G-6: One of the new Eduard 109s in Finnish markings and the good ol' Hasegawa bird in 1/32.

Now if a forum admin could make it so I can actually edit the 2nd post (build list and completed builds) or move this post to the 3rd place, that would be great! It's a wee bit hard to do my job as a co-host otherwise... Whistling

Here's my offering.

The Academy 1/48 Avia S-199 "Israeli Knife". A Czechoslovakian built Bf-109G-6 which used the Junkers Jumo 211 instead of the 109's Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine. Most of the 605's were destroyed during an explosion at a warehouse in Krásné BÅ™ezno

Ok here I am.

My humble entry is...

...

1/24 Trumpeter 109G-10.  This is going to be an indepth construction with a lot of added stuff.  And very little of that will be aftermarket.

It was begun in September, the thread is.....

Folks I have the build roster under way and plan on transitioning the second post over to SchattenSparten to co-host.

I will have to say that I have never heard of the S-119 before modelcrazy. The research on this subject should be fun as I love to gain knowledge on the 109 subject.

Still on for this 1/32 G-10. I'm ready. Got the AM and paint for several 109s. Later on, perhaps a 1/32 E-4 with a "surprise" scheme. Maybe even that 1/4 Eduard Dash. I'll just commit to the G-10 for now and then ride the waves from there!

Hey Mustang,

Decided to pull this oldie but goodie out of the stash for the GB.  It's an Otaki (#OT2-25-500)  Bf 109G.  Not sure of the year.  No dates on any of the paperwork, box, or pieces.  If anyone has any info on this kit, please let me know.  Not familiar with Otaki at all.  This is one of many I got at an estate sale!

                                   ************Newsflash*************

Okee dokee folks. I'm going to make a swift change. I'll be PM'ing everybody who posted here. Clemens is my co-host for this GB and I've tried seeing if the Staff could change my second post to his (Schattenspartans) post so he could handle the build roster and pic posting. That can't happen so I've got the build roster copied and before this thing gets any more involved, I'm going to start a new thread so I can get him on board. I'll be PM'ing all the participants to let them know about the change and to post their build contribution pics to the new thread. It'll be a little bit of work but Hang tight gang and we'll get this thing under way. Give me a day or so and we'll get it all ironed out.

Oh... Alright... By the by... I'm starting with one of my beloved old MatchBox kits (37 yrs old) in 1/32. It will be a 109E3 of 3/Jg54 probably white 2 of the Balkan campaign 1940, pilot unknown.

Eagle... Otaki kits are quite nice and fairly well detailed although sparse in the pit area... Nothing a good pe set wouldnt help. They were basic kits, made from sometime in the mid 80s into the early 90s. They are related to the Arii kits and realy only failed due to poor distribution. The man who started the company (in Japan) was determined to produce the best kit possible for the modest cost, and after several start up "Bumps" he did just that. Again, a poor distribution network caused the downfall of the company, not the product.
