I have never heard of salvo, where are you getting it from. Is there a reason it will take so long to reach you.

Sorry, I meant salzo. Damn autocorrect. Mike salzo over at the RPF Forum has been building master molds for an x-wing based on the dimensions of the original studio model. He's done 3 versions before this one. This will be first build. I'll post a link.

It's taking a while to get to me because I'm at the end of a long line of people that he's popping out resin kits for.

That's an awesome dio, Senor! I have trouble finding enough room for a 1/48 plane on my workbench, much less something that size. Can't wait to see more of that.

Are there any new Star Wars kits that aren't snap-together?  Who makes a quality kit at a reasonable price?

Not sure about new ones, some of the AMT kits can be very nice and still a decent price. Possibly the best plastic kits are the AMT ones but they are a bit pricey.

I'm a definite maybe for this build. I'll go by the hobby store in the next few days hopefully and see what they have to offer...

I was considering doing two snap kits. Quantity over quality. Whistling

Hi, Bish. I'll enlist! A fine molds 1/48 x-wing! It looks like a good kit and my scanning for a larger scale returned showing devoid of life forms...

Can't wait to see that x-wing. Which red designation will it be? Red-5?

Nice choice Tom. I have their 72nd X-Wing so will be looking forward to yours. There were a couple of 24th Resin X-Wings and AMT produced a 35th electronic one back in the late 80's I think, but no idea would you would be able to get these.

Josiah, got you down as a TBC. Welcome aboard guys.

bad, hope you can make it on board.

Steve, I was always put off by those snap kits, but after speaking to Rob, they don't seem as bad as one might think.

I may not do the red x-wing, thinking of something different after I read this article about Blue One

Bish, I wouldn't be surprised if those snap kits built up nicely - they seem to be much better made than when we were kids. Still, iit would feel like cheating to only build one for the GB. Wink

I just found out last night that Fine Molds lost the SW license to Bandai last summer, which explains why the FM kits seem to be out of stock everywhere I look. I did see quite a few Bandai kits on Ebay (X-Wing and...TIE Advanced? Interesting!) . They're reasonably priced but shipping from Asia can be pricey.

Can't wait to see that x-wing. Which red designation will it be? Red-5?

i'm not sure what designation it will be. I'd like to do something newer, er uh older? than Red-5

Thanks, Bish. I did come across the older kits but they seem very much toy-like and unavailable, nonetheless. I found a fine molds 1/48, which was lucky because they are an endangered species.

Yeah, Raven. I'll be interested to see how Bandai does with all the new licensing and when they will be released. It does look like the bandai 1/72 x wing is out.

Well that's disappointing to hear that. I wonder how the Bandai kits will compare. Looks like that 72nd falcon is going to be way out of reach now.

As someone who's built too many Gundam models, I've been impressed with Bandai's engineering of their kits. Also at the moment the exchange rate of dollar to yen is in our favor. Shipping from Japan using SAL isn't too unreasonable - I'm currently awaiting a Gundam model from Japan and shipping using SAL was about $10. Takes a few weeks, but if you're patient it's not too bad. Check out hlj.com!

Bish, I moved the link in the original post to where it can be seen. "Click here for link".

I apologize for that!

The author of the article was not sure if they will produce this Star Destroyer, But, if they did, it would be huge!

Some nice looking stuff there. I certainly like the look of the Stormtrooper and Darth Vardar as well as the destroyer. I already all the 72nd Fine Molds TIE's and other ships, but those do look rather interesting.

I really like the lit up thrusters! I'd be up for another x wing based on that.

I don't know why I didn't think to check HLJ sooner, thanks for pointing that out Badlanguage! Both the kit and shipping prices are very reasonable, I think I might have to pull the trigger on an X-Wing soon. The kits I really want to build are the Y-Wing and TIE Interceptor, but oh well - I'll keep an eye out for the TIE snap kit and wait to see if Bandai releases a Y at some point in the future. Maybe another GB for episode VIII? Wink

I should have mentioned it as well. I bought my x-wing from HLJ. It was by far less expensive than the offerings on eBay.

Steve, I have thought about carrying this on for VIII and IX. If there is enough support, I will.
