Wow! Great build, Rob. Excellent start to the GB.

Watching your TIEs coming together kept reminding me of the toy I had as a kid , where you pressed a button behind the cockpit and the side panels would fly off. Very satisfying when paired with my toy X-Wing. Big Smile

But, the question, Steve, is...do you still have that TIE?? Classic..i wish I still had mine!

No, but oh how I wish I did. My mom did dig up my action figures a couple of years ago, though. Smile

Bish, you can put me down for a Bandai 1/72 X-Wing when you get a chance. I'm interested to see how long it takes to get here from Japan!

Great looking build Rob. But that's typical for you dude.

Rob's done? Is it December already????  LOL  Great work Rob! Looks awesome. Bow Down

Steve - I had that Tie fighter too as well as the x-wing, and who remembers the death star WITH the chute and trash compactor!!!!!...unfortunately, through various moves and life changes, my mom donated them all sometime in the past.  Man, I've got to get to the bench soon! Smile

I loved that Death Star playset...the foam bits and rubber 'monster' inside the trash compactor. It was epic.

My brother was just telling me that he was looking for Death Star playsets online.  I told him it would be great if he bought one for me to replace the one he destroyed when we were kids...

Rob, outstanding job on the TIE fighters! I can't believe it's only the first week on the year, and you're complete! Great job!

Steve, got it added, looking forward to seeing that. Do you have the kit in hand yet.

Well, after a couple of years of searching, I have finally been able to get hold of a kit that's been high on my want list. Some may recall that last year I built the Screamin 1/4 Darth Vader. NucMech is a bit of a collector of these kits, having built quite a few I believe with 2 more in this GB. But they are hard to get hold of especially as the company went out of business a few years back and no one seems to have picked up the moulds. But aside from Darth there was only 2 other kits I wanted. Boba Fett  and top of the list, the Stormtrooper. Well, finally it has happened. On Sunday I was the only bidder of one that was on sale in the USA. Its cost me £50 including postage which is pretty good and its been posted today. I am so chuffed I don't think I have stopped smiling since I found I had won it. As you may be able to tell, I rather like the Stormtroopers. First the full sized cardboard one and now this.

And to top it off, a UK seller has the Fett, so I might try and bid on that as well.

Sorry, had to share, just so pleased about this.

Good catch on the Stormtrooper, Bish!

I too just have been fascinated by the stromtrooper uniform ever since I first saw Star Wars. So much so, I was going to purchase a full size suit a couple years ago for Holloween, but my wife put the stop to that when she realized I was going to pay $1800.

Sometimes, my wife just doesn't understand me! Big Smile

Bruce, your not alone. I have looked at those a few times. My other half is very understanding about both my love of Star wars and building kits. But that might be stretching it a bit to far.

But they do look cool.

I wonder what size they are. I'm a pretty big guy at 6' 1".

"Aren't you a little short to be a Stormtrooper?"

Edit: I see it. the sizes range.

I took this from the eBay ad:

Accommodates various body dimensions – typically 5’6 to 6’2 (165-185cm) with various builds.

Can be adapted for people outside these core dimensions

Not yet, I just ordered it last night from HLJ and it hasn't shipped yet. Apparently it takes 10-30 days to get here from the Land of the Rising Sun, quite a span of time. I'll be sure to take lots of pics for you when it finally arrives. Congrats on getting the stormtrooper! Bandai has a 1/12 'trooper I was eyeing up. Maybe later this year.

Raven, ye, I have been looking at those Bandai troopers as well. I think I might do the same. I already have a built 70mm white metal one, so might as well go for the 1/12 to.

Nice to see you started Steve, ye, I recall it being a rather nice build.

I've made a start on my POD racer.

i painted the primer and base colours on the sprue

One wall of the interior was malformed, bent beyond being usable. I cut off half and made a new section from styrene sheet.

base silver on the body parts

I mocked up the cockpit to work out how things go together. I guess Anakin can't see over the joysticks

Nice start Octane. Those Joysticks do look a bit big don't they, but I don't think Anakin had a great view ahead.

Love that kit too OrangeOctane...it truly builds up well. It seems fiddly with the way it mounts on the base, but, it's actually quite smarly engineered. The only issue I had was attaching the 'reins' from the pod to the engines, I had trouble getting them to stay on after it was built, but, it was my poor technique, not the kit...

Ok, trying to catch up here.

Rob, like everyone else said, those TIES are amazing. I liked seeing how well the kit went together. It makes it a good alternative to the fine molds version. As a kid I too had a good collection of Star Wars toys. The one I could not  convince my mom to get was the AT-AT  Walker. Like most though those  toys are long gone. However, we were cleaning out my wife's grandmother's attic and we found her old x-wing, snowspeeder and collection of figures. Not in great shape, but I can restore them.

Bish', congrats on getting the stormtrooper, I know you have been searching for that   for a while now. I hope you can manage getting Boba Fett  as well.

I'm on hold right now waiting for better weather. My build area is not climate controlled, and my heater died on me. So until I can get a new one or the temp gets better I'm at a stop.
