Okay, there are t 54 kits, but I'd have to really be sure of which one to get. My knowledge of armor isn't very strong. I'd like to start building armor. Maybe I should do a few other tank/armor kits before I try to do something like this

I read in wiki that there were 3 T-54s built in 1946, The problem with this is I can't find where it said that. So, I won't go by this.

I'll do more research and let you know.

Would the XB-35 propeller flying wing fit for this build? It was devoloped during WW2 and in June 1946, it made its first flight.

An XB-35 would be extremely cool! Do you have the old AMT kit? It's fun.

Let's see what Bish thinks.

Greentracker, the early production T-54 was markedly different in the turret, than the later ones usually seen as models. Somebody else asked about them a few months back and I posted some photos in that thread. If only I could remember what thread it was on here...

Thanks Stik. Like I said, I don't know enough about armor to be able to do the right one.

But, I never did the M10 Tank Destroyer which my Uncle was in. And my Dad flew B-26s guarding the Panama Canal

Then theres the x/yb-35 Flying Wing.

If I found the right Tractor Trailer, I could do that. The problem with a big truck is, they didn't go by years on them like they do cars.

Ken, ye, the XB-35 would be fine. I have done some looking at the T-54 kits. I assume you have looked at the Trumpeter kits. I'd except the 54A kit. I know it didn't enter service until after 46, but for the sack of the Gb we can assume the Soviets brought its entry forward a few years.

T-44s look cool. Cool They're a little more streamlined-looking than the T-34-85.

Thanks Moff I found 1 T 44 kit on Ebay and want over $100 for it.

Bish pencil me in for the T54a 1:35 scale by Skif. Is Skif a good model company? Does anyone here know?

GT98: I think there was an article a few years back in FSM where a guy kitbashed a T-44. The wheels and turret are the same as a T-34/85 and the hull is slab sided so he built it up with plastic sheets.

As to Skif I think they're one of the old East European companies, not an easy build but I've seen people do a great job with them. Just going to be a lot more work than a Tamiya or Dragon kit.

Ken, I have never heard of them. But I found a thread on Armorama which says they are not to bad if your not to worried about super detail.

I have built a few Skif kits. I personally like them, but they are NOT shake & bake. Modeling skills required. And their tracks are best replaced with anybody's AM tracks.

I just found a web site that said the Skif T 54/55s are all bad.I want to to go with a Tamiya T55a in 1 35 scale.

I read the T55a was in service from 1946 to the present and designed 1945–1958

The Tamiya T-55A would need some serious work to backdate it to a early T-54. New turret & main gun, new road wheels, some hull mods...

I understand Stik. I'm not going to do all that. If Bish doesn't accept it, I'll still do the tank, just not for this GB. For this GB then, I'll do the X-B35 Flying Wing

The T-55, while a continuation of the T-54 design, did not enter service until 1958.

Sorry Ken, I would love to be able to squeeze the T-55 in, but that is stretching things a bit to far. Give me the details for the XB-35 and i'll get it on the roster.

Bish, It's okay, no worries. I knew it was a long shot myself.

The x/y B35 Northrop Flying Wing will be 1/72 scale. I'm just not sure if it will be AMT or Italeri. There is always some on Ebay. I read somewhere that they are doing a repop of the x/y B49 Flying Wing, but that is with the jet engines. I've always wanted to do the B 35 any way.

Thanks for putting up with me with all my concerns through all this.

Also, Wish me luck on the T 55.

No, I have not had any issues with adding quotes, but I know some problems have applied to some members but not others.

Bish, I've decided the B-35 Flying Wing needs the US Airfield Fuel Truck 2 1/2 Ton 6x6, by Tamiya. So, Please add that.

Thanks

Tamiya didn't, and still don't. I think since the b-35 is such a big airplane, anything beside it will look small. It's 1 48 scale  I hope I'm not wrong on this, but, I'll give it a try.

Thanks

Bish - Forget the fuel truck, but put me down for the 1 35 scale Deuce and a half cargo truck by Tamiya as well as the B 35 flying wing. They just won't be going together. I'm assuming the truck still fits for 1946?

Bish - yes, thats the one. It was named the Deuce and a half by the troops who drove them in WW2

Deuce and a half equals 2 1/2 ton. In card playing the 2 cards are deuces.

Sorry for the confusion
